i noticed the transmission on my 70 is making a slight chattering,knocking sound.it does it at idle,it seems to let up a bit when you rev it,but in 4th gear is when its the loudest[at idle] you cant really hear it when your riding it.it seems to be related to the countershaft.i took the chain off,started it up and went through the gears.sounds like its definately in that area.in neautral it will do it also,only when the sprocket turning from vibration or whatever makes it go around while its in neautral.if you stop it from turning,the knocking stops.granted,this thing has not run in 2-3 years,it runs great other than the noise.i plan on putting this engine in a restored 85 atc 70 frame that my cousin started and never finished,he couldnt find a motor he says..thanks for any help...
