83 Yamahauler backfiring

[Yamahauler]

i just put a new muffler on the old girl and it was all good, no backfires, unitl i took it on a 50km ride the other day. about 40km into the ride, it started to backfire during deacceleration. I rode it today and it isnt any better. Anyone know what this could be?

Check for any new exhaust leaks.I'd also put a new plug in and read it after a short run.

another problem happened today on the way home from work, i was riding, then it just stopped in a cloud of smoke, it started back up fine and it happened three more times, about once every minute. would this exhaust leak too?

well, i got it fixed now, put a new plug in and found the exhaust leak, now its fine, i had took the spacer ring out of where the headpipe goes in. i thought it fit better, but i guess it didnt.
