I have a 1983 200x. I was mudding with it one day, and the kill switch broke on it. I decided to unplug it and run without it. I taped over where the connecter is so no water or mud will get in it. I found a new switch on ebay and when i put it all back together my headlights will not work. Does anyone know anything about this? I heard it could be the pickup coil or the CDI box. I have tested the headlight switches and it appears to have voltage. Thanks

yea i thought the same thing, but this powersport mechanic in my area said it probably had to do something with either the CDI or the pick-up coil. I believe he is right, this guy has a very good business going. I just can't afford to take it to him or spend money on parts i don't need. I am currently stuck in college and will be home in a few weeks and i would like to fix it so i can ride longer. Thank you for your help and any others in the future

The switch was probably sold on eBay for a reason. :D It could really be a bad switch though, open it up and check to make sure the pins are making a good solid, clean connection. I would also check the bulb just for kicks. It has happened to me before, as soon as I turned on the switch the light blew and I didn't see it come on at all so I went through the wiring and everything...looked at the bulb and it was blown. Replaced it and has been fine ever since.

Yeah i know it could be a bad switch but I took it apart and tested it. I have voltage to the switch but it is getting lost on the other side of the switch which leads me to believe it has to be something else,
