ok i wanted to have my tank powdercoated but it has bondo in it. so i talked to soem people from the boards and thy say it will crack it. so my question is is the pj1 (or what everbrand taht is) epoxy paint strong? this stuff

http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=30296&store=Main&productId=p30296&catId=120&leafCatId=12005

says good for high wear high rub areas.

mabye put some of this stuff on it to http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=301250&store=Main&productId=p301250&catId=120&leafCatId=12005

it says it reduces chipping,

also i hear bbq paint works good for exhaust. i repainted my cobra with dupli color and the damn trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro bubbled off. is it because it is a cobra?

Why not take the bondo off, and fix your tank underneath it? Bondo isnt the only thing in the world that will fix dents. With powdercoating your options are limited, but you can weld it to fill up your dents. It does take a long time, it is very very slow, but it can be done. The place I get all my powdercoating at just got done with a Harley tank that way. Filled in the dents by welding, then grinded it down smooth and you couldnt tell once there was powder on it. It can be done, but with that thin of metal, you better be a good welder, and have at least 5-10 hours of free time to do it.

if you're having problems with paint peeling off, make sure you clean the surface really well before you paint, wipe it down with solvent ( varsol, methyl hydrate, etc.. ) and don't put any finger prints on the surface before the paint.

Tremclad high-heat worked well for me on the big red exhaust.

yes i used a special wheel for taking off rust on an air drill to clean it all up. If you just paint over the rust it probaly will not stick, on the can it says not to paint over rust
