its pretty much the same, when you go to shift, let off the throttle, pull the clutch lever in, change gears and get back on the throttle.

You can manual shift just about any auto but I think he was ripping on him for not knowing how to drive a manual stick.

accually, chrysler (i know of for a fact) back in the day used a fluid drive, which was essentially a clutch to put it ingear, then you could shift without the clutch once the land yacht was moving... just a thought lol

the new pontiacs do lol manual tap shift or automatic, but thats not the point, to driveit just pull the clutch in for first gear put it in gear giver some gas and let the clutch out, then you can just shift without the clutch, just shift like an auto clutch, then when your in 1st pull the clutch in to go backinto neatrul :D

i feel dumb asking this question. i have only owned auto clutches. and i never have seen or rode a manual clutch trike. i might be going to look at an 85 250r. soon though he wants about $1500. and i want to know how to ride it.
there was a thread about an auto clutch on here not too long ago

thanks

When you go to shift in to 1st, pull in the clutch first then shift into gear. Now slowly let out the clutch as you give it some gas. Once you get rolling it is easy, some shift without using the cluch, personaly I still use it. Getting it moving is the hardest part and does take some getting used to.

The first time I tried a manual clutch I was test driving a '86 200x for one of my friends because he didn't know how to us a clutch either. I drove a little loop, brought it back and stailed it right infront of everybody, then proceded to burn good sized chunk of my leg on the exhaust while trying to start it back up! Good thing it was dark out so I couldn't see how bad the burn was until I got home an hour later.

When i went get my 350X i stalled it twice when trying to get it going. Then i could not even get it started again. I had to let the guy do it.

Riding a manual clutch ATV/ATC comes second nature once you have had experience. You dont even need to think about it...you just do it...

You dont want to rev the piss out of it and then let the clutch out slowly...because you wont have a clutch left (lol). What I do, Is let the clutch out first until you feel it start to grab...then you feather the clutch while applying a constant throttle. Like I said, you will get the hang of it and it will come second nature after a while.

i just bought a 86 250r on ebay and this is my first manual clutch as well i pick it up tomarrow can you start it up from any gear as long as the clutch is pulled in or does it have to be in nuetral and if its in nuetral do you still have to hold in the clutch?

TrikerR

they can be started in any gear with the clutch pulled in. if its in neutral you dont need the clutch in to start it. when want to start off in neutral kick it over then pull the clutch in, put it into to gear, give it some throttle and slowly let out the clutch

Yes you can start it in any gear as long as the clutch is pulled in. No you do not have to hold the clutch in if its in nuetral.

Look on the bright side : if you dont like using a clutch once out of first you technically dont need to use the clutch (if you are a "smooth shifter") i dont mean to confuse ya but it saves the clutch a little bit. IDK if u r supposed to do this or not but i have never had a single problem (proble cuz its a HONDA!!)
