Hi,
My Uncle just gave me a 200X that has been sitting in his garage for about 15 years. I put some gas in the carburetor and it fired right up. However the fuel flow doesn't continue. I took the main fuel line off and couldn't blow through it, I did blow through the overflow tubes which pushed the gas out the two little holes on the outside of the butterfly, then I could blow through the main fuel line. I hook it all back up and it starts for 3 or 4 seconds and stops, I can't see fuel going into the carburetor when I pull the throttle. I did pull the drain plug on the bottom of the carburetor also.
Not sure what part to take off next?????
Any help is appreciated.

if it has been sitting, chances are that there is alot of caked dried fuel in the carb, take the carb off , take the float bowl off, take the jets out clean the whole carb out with some carb clean and then take the tank off and clean it out with gas, just put some in swish it around and dump it out, also the fuel valve on the main fuel line should be takein apartt and cleand, if you have acess to a air compressor use that to clean everything it makes it much eaiser :)

Thanks!
I did end up using an air compressor to blow out some of the crap in there and got it running! I do need to take it apart and clean it up proper though. Amazing that it hasn't been started in 15 years and fired right up, too cool. Aparently it has only been used about 5 times....so it looks like new. Thanks for the follow up!

Hey, good luck. I have a 200es and the carb was all junked up. A good cleaning always helps.

if the bike has been sitting for 15 years, i can pretty much gauruntee you the inside of the carb is all gummed up. pull the carb off, and completey clean the inside with some good carb cleaner. there very easy to take apart. just make sure you have a rebuild kit to put it back together..... youll need the gasket. my advice would be to also replace the float, and jet inside the carb. replacing the fuel lines would be a good idea also. if there original, there probably a little dry rotted. it may sound like a pain, but it can all be done for under $40.00, and shouldnt take any more than an hour. i know, i have a 1985 200x, and ive had it since it was new, and ive done all that about 100 times....lol. good luck.
Dammit!
