Look at the poor fella I bought tonight. Can't wait to pressure wash that ugly paint off and then get to sanding/buffing.

This bike will be more of an "investment" than anything else. Plans are to resell it if I don't grow too fond too quickly.

If the pictures don't work for anyone, just keep staring- it's hidden under the camo paint.

:Bounce I would not call it a poor fella. Because the last owner clearly took time into keeping it in nice shape and Cama paint is not bad when hunting though you can tell who ever did the camo painting he used to much space in the light color and the pattern is all wrong. (the spots are to big and some colors are needed less then others ) The idea is to break up the image. he did do a nice job on the seat and over all the bike is in a lot better shape then some of the one's iv seen in bc here mainly the one's on the sunshine coast.

Actually it looks like an 1983 ATC 200.

Its not a 200s and its not a 200M. The 200M was first released in 1984 and was very similar to the ATC 200 of '83, except that it had an electric starter. If I am not mistaken this trike you got does not have an electric start, right?

The 200s was first released in 1984 and replaced the 185s. This trike should have larger tires (at least it did from the factory). Originally it would have 25 inch tires like the Big Red. The 200s had 22's.

The '82 ATC 200 did not have front suspension. This must be an '83 ATC 200.

Good find!

Nice Trike and it looks to be in good shape. I would be surprised if the paint under that thing looks real good.http://www.files.3wheelerworld.com/Sads/sHonda1983atc200atc185sC.jpg http://www.3wheelerworld.com/pppics/satc200001xATC200.jpg http://www.3wheelerworld.com/pppics/satc200002xwheeler1.jpg

Hell yeah study, leave it like it is and use it for your beater. That would be a perfect candidate for any mudhole, fishing trip, hunting, etc...

Yes, it was the ebay trike.

Those wheels almost look aluminum, but I'm sure they're not. Are they?

I'd really like my brother to buy it from me. He lives about 1.5 hrs away and I want him to get it as a hunting bike.

Guess we'll see if the pictures do it justice when I go look at it.

I've done that many times as well. For me it'll be a 5-hour drive away, but no shipping cost. Sounds like it was a good deal so far.

I live close to Baton Rouge. In about 10 minutes my lovely gf and I will be heading up 55 to go pick up the trike. We'll cross over the Amite river by Fred's to get to the interstate.

I'll let you guys know tonight what kind of shape she's in.

you can tell from the headlight that it is an ATC200 - NOT a 200s. The 200s had a smaller headlight than the Atc200. No doubt an 83.

Well, I own it now. Got it home and this thing has rediculous compression. I swear I could start my 350 chevy using a pull start easier than this thing. I actually pulled it sideways skidding the tires on CEMENT trying to pull start it. I think I check most every time to make sure it didn't rip my fingers off while yanking on the pull start.

THEN! Yes, then! I got my GF to pull me around the yard on a 4x4 Kawasaki so we could start it that way. The tires locked up most every time. I was on the back of the seat bouncing for all I was worth and the tires stayed locked up. I also had my first ATV wreck tonight as I flew off of it while the kawasaki pulled me at the top of 2nd gear. I flew off and it turned over. The 3wheeler started going off to the right and when I turned back to the left to correct the front tire, the trike rolled instead of the tire. I flew off, but my shoulder/ribs broke the fall. ;)

Oh well! I'm still having fun.

I think the timing or valves might be off. Because it's WAY to difficult to start like this. I swear something must be wrong. This atc200 was renamed in french about 10 different times tonight. Help me out guys.

Could the timing be a tooth retarded?

could be retarted or he could have put a higher compresion piston in it also, try starting it in 4th gear....also is your auto decomp lever hooked up (left side of the head) i know mine has some good compresion without the decomp on

Trust me, I was using the decompression lever too. Still couldn't get the rascal started with the recoil starter. Infact, it felt like I was ripping the gears out of the recoil starter. It makes starting my 200s fill like starting a 3.5hp briggs and stratton.

If this is just from increased compression, then it must be a 13:1 dome. The compression tester will be hooked up to it soon. Hopefully, I'm just a tooth off though. I did run and I ran it for about 10 minutes at the seller's house.

The way to check to see if it is aluminum, stick a magnet to it. If the magnet doesn't stick, its aluminum. A magnet will NOT stick to anything thats aluminum, stainess steel, I think nickel and some other metals.Basicly, if stick a magnet on a piece of metal, and it doesn't stick, that metal won't rust.

I would also believe that it is a 1983 ATC 200. The rear plastic is ALL wrong for a 200s. And it can't be an '82 or earlier because it has front suspension - the tell-tale sign for an '83. Look at the rear storage compartment. That gives it away. Then again, you could always look on the front of the frame where the forks attach to see if there's a black rectangular-shaped sticker with the year, make, and model on it.

And of course, there's always one true last-resort way to find out and that's to call the VIN in to the dept. of motor vehicles in what ever state you live in. Have them run the VIN, and they can tell all about the bike.
