Rare isn't the word I would use to decribe them - Suzuki kept them in production from 1985 until 1993 - there are thousands of them out there. There are actually two different models of these quads the LT230E/S Quadrunner and the LT250S Quadsport - the model line was split in 1989 and the 250 model was dropped in 1991. The LT250S was a little larger in its dimensions, had a little longer wheel travel, different swingarm, plastics, seat etc.

The 230 Quadsport is plentiful but the 250 isn't that easy to find. I bought one used in 1992, it was a '90 model. Only made in '89 and '90. White with blue trim. It was a nice bike except the chain adjustment sucked, if you got the sprocket out of alignment by just a hair you would throw the chain every 15 minutes.

my neighbor had that problem on his 230 as well.. and it sucked because on hillclimbs it would fall off and he would roll backwards and he flipped it 2 times from turning or hitting the back brakes..
the lt230 quadsports sucked some big A my friend had one, man what a piece, the case always cracked by the kicker, theres the mentiond chain problem, it handeld like a tank, and had crap for power,.....LOL

I HATE the kickers on the 230's... who in their right mind would make it kick sideways, and not forward/backwards like normal atv/atc's...

My dad has a 86' 230 quadsport and that thing moves. Completely stock and not once ever has it thrown a chain. In fact we just had to replace the chain so it is almost totally stock. Never torn apart and always put in whatever oil was around when it needed it. They are the only suzuki I want to own. And the crap for power thing, ummm ive had it pull me outta mud bogs quite a few times. May be he has one of a kind but our neighbor has had the same experience as us and his is almost stock, new chain and bearings all around. Oh and the kickers, Yeah they are REALLY gay.

You guys seriouslly never appreciate. The Suzuki LT230s Redefined the way quads are made today. It was the FIRST sport quad , tho many manufactors including suzuki have 85 250r's they didnt come out untill late 85 early 86. The LT230 does have alot of power for a 230. I still have a stock one with just a weisco piston and nothing else and i can out run a 300ex with ease and almost keep up with my friends 350ex ( 300ex with a 350x engine). No it dosnt have the power of the 250r's but its still a cool quad. And how can you say that the kickers sucked? There unique and personally i like them better then front kick becuz your foot can slip and it slaps ure ****. Now about ure question. From 1985 untill 1988 it was called a LT230 Quad Sport. In 1989 they wanted it to be a 250. They detuned them a bit and bored them. a 230qs will beat a 250qs. All in all , its not a bad quad. My dad bought his brand new in 1985 and has never had problems to this day.

The LT230 does have alot of power for a 230. Hardley - The 230 motor is only rated at 11hp, which is one less than the first generation 200X motor - which is smaller in displacement. The 250 motor only had 12hp, which is quite anemic considering its immediate competition, Hondas 250X, had 15.6hp. I had a blue and white '89 Q-Sport for a little while. Even with a DG RCM on her and a K&N jet kit installed, it could barely hang with 300EX's as I recall. About the only thing it had going for it over a 300EX was the fact that it was a bit lighter.

I knew a guy with a quadsport 230, he thought he could beat my buddies 01 cr125r (fatty pipe, shorty muffler, tuned out carb) , that notion didn't last too long! :D :beer

Whats the deal on the lt250r? I got an 89. It's pretty fast for a 250. Remember it's 2 stroke.
