I located an '84 aircooled R and I'm just waiting for a good weekend to meet and pick it up. I've never had a 2stroke trike before but have been through plenty of liquid cooled 2stroke dirtbikes. How do the aircoolers hold up to abuse? Anything to keep an eye on during a long day in the sand? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect. Oh....how about some PICS of your aircooled Rs!!

you can ride em for a long while-BUT U HAVE TO GO FAST TO KEEP THE AIR MOVING AND KEEP THE AIR BLOWIN ON THE MOTORRRRR. should be easy for you if u r in sand. someone on here told me they run near 55-60 for periods of the 30 minute rane often (in the sand) and his honing is good yet. personally IDK, cause i havent had a nice day to ride (its been near zero degrees FAREN. for way roo long! lol)

they will run forever, they take abuse and keep comin back for another plate, easy to rebuild (have done 2 of them and most parts are still avaliable) they are cheaper then water-cooled but still offer the same fun factor, its a great high-performance starter bike, i have had mine for 1 year and they are great bikes, mine runs real strong and needs to go for a top-end in a couple rides, it will hold off a z400 400ex etc... they are very quick and a blast to ride. i would buy mine again in a heart beat! best trike i can recomend

This one has a full dg exhaust and the carb from an '85r. Everyone who's ridden it says it rips. I can't wait to get a hold of it

Those are some sweeeeeeeet rear tires! Man... I don't know who he is or who took the pic, but looks like the guy's squeezing out a fart or picking a wedge... what's up with that? :wondering

Here's some pics of my 82 Older School R....since the latest pics, I've gotten an OEM set of plastics, putting on a black Hi-Flite desert seat, and a handlebar with HRC crossbar. I think it will tie in the plastic tank much better. I might repaint/decal my old metal tank.

Holic, there's room for mine too on the Trikefest Express right? :naughty:

Bruce, if you bring a pinger to TF, you will be hurt and laying in my bunk the whole way back to NY. You wont be able to share driving time, and you will probably just moan and groan the whole way. maybe one of the freak bros would spoon you along the way, make sure you are comfortable. You sure you want to bring such a dangerous machine? You know, you being a novice rider and all.

You axed for that, didn't you? LOL

Oh, I think I'll be ok. I better get some more seat time on my R huh? I think the 'banned and nameless' has put more hours on it than I have since I bought it! I plan on doing some nice winter riding on it in the snow.

I have been upgrading for my safety. As you see, I did go with an axle extension, back to stock gearing (had a 15T front sprocket) a safety seat (to be installed), put a stock expansion chamber, a plastic gas tank, Progressive front springs, and a really nice sprocket cover (thanks again Holic!) on it to guard myself from such a dangerous machine. I think I'll be OK. :p

Thank you for your concern! :beer

So you slotting in space for the R and the Showgirl for the Trikefest Express? :naughty: You da man... no matter what people with lots of nothing to do say about you! :w00t:

Bruce

PS - Maybe we should use that pic you put up for a future caption contest? :welcome:

I think I can squeeze you in. I am really wanting to buy a 4 place sled trailer for a good deal, keep your eyes open round there. we fit 5 trikes and a blaster on one at TF 03, and it towed nice-not like that broken down car hauler we used last year!
