On January 16th, Sunset Rambler is having a Team Harescramble. This is on an extended motocross track, so there are no serious or dangerous obstacles, other than lots of mud, mud ruts and a few mudholes. A Team consists of either one or two riders. Race is 1 1/2 hours.
If they get 3 or more teams, they will have a 3 wheeler class! As Ive said before, you cant whine that nobody wants 3 wheelers if you dont go and support them when they do! This is in Galion, Ohio. You can use yahoo maps or mapquest to find out how far that is from you. If they dont get 3 teams, we will have to race in quad classes. All ATvs race at the same time, they are just scored separately. The guy who runs it is a former triker himself, and has been pleading for trikers to come and run any of their events. Sadly, most trike racing is done in message forums with the convenient excuse that its not allowed on tracks.
Details can be found at www.sunsetramblers.com .
Derrick and 3Leggeddog have said they are going, and I have learned that these guys actually do ride, and go when they say they are going! They let me know about this event. Also, they have told me Max and his brother are going, and I also know the same about Max, and its loks liek 3Leggeddog has another friend whom is going too. 1 1/2 hours is a long race to ride alone, but we may have to split up to get our 3 teams. Hopefully everyone will show. We will get there early and put togther our teams then, so if you dont have a partner, come on down anyways and we will get you one if you dont want to ride alone.
We ran this last year but it was not a team race. Chopperdad, and Garageboy, both of whom rarely post, showed up and ran. Garageboy won his class, AND was one of the top overall finishers with a 200X. It nearly killed Chopperdad, but he has the honor of having showed up and finished a race which got my total respect. I was doing great until about half way through I had an impeller failure, which resulted in a melted piston. Of few of their friends came with quads too.
You dont need a "race bike", or be particularly fast, just the ability to ride a long time without stopping, whcih shouldnt be tough with teams. They have classes for about anything, including some youth and mini classes (under 150cc).
Check out sunsetramblers website, and contact any of us if you are interested in going or have questions.

Moving this to the top for anyone brave enough to come out in 20 degree weather.

At least the ground might be frozen!

I have raced MX here before on my 250R, and like everyone else said get out there if you can and support this place. Would be there myself except I live in St. Louis now. Take lots of pics those of you who are going.

Hey Kryton! We're going to miss you there. He's definately a REAL rider, and came out to Sunset for an MX race in total pig slop weather. My trike was down and I raced my Quad-Z that day.

Derrick is right. Shouldnt be any problems with mud. Supposed to have a couple days of sub 20 degree weather, so Im sure the track will be like riding very bumpy concrete. Mittens work best to keep your hands thawed in that weather.

Derrick Adams

2 guys on 2 bikes or 2 guys on 1 bike. Either way is fine. Or you can do it like Tim likes to do, just ride it "Iron Man" 1 man 1 bike 1 1/2hr straight. You work as a team to ride 1 1/2hrs straight, stopping as needed to switch.

We'll be racing in our own 3 wheeler class Sunday, since we have enough riders.

P.S. My wife calls it the "scrambler thingy" GEEZ!

I got the coleman stove, and the coffee tea bags, Max! Im going to throw a few logs in the van too.

I dont want to ride ironman if I dont have to! Dont sweat it threeleggeddog! I talked to Garageboy tonight and he is still a maybe, as well as my brother. At the most, only one guy should have to ride ironman.

The cylinder I sent to Wiseco cant be resleeved so Im running my piston slapper. If she blows, she blows. (sounds like last year) Thats why I hope I have a partner. Might need one to complete it.

They had the temp forecast up to 25 degrees yesterday, but now theyve dropped it back to 20. Pray for heat.

They run Flatrack Sat. and MX Sun. weekends all the rest of the year, and you can even camp, but I couldnt get anybody to go last year. Same deal, 3 or more racers and we get our own class. Maybe this year there will be more interest.

Its rough when you have to depend on others for transportation. If you are under 18 you need a guardian to sign you up all all events, but you can contact promoters before the events get the forms online or have them mailed to you.

Youll have to do it soon though, if you want a shot at me. Im not getting any younger, and I think retirement from some of these competitions isnt too far off! I look forward to having you ride with us.

Your only saying that because your sore from "Camera Air". Not to mention riding a bike that's totally unfamiliar, as hard as you can, for 1 1/2hrs.

We'll see how your feeling next week...

Wish I were closer... By the way, I don't think I would call 1 1/2 hours by yourself ironman. I did a cross country race on my R back in '92 that was 70 miles and nearly four hours. I could barely get out of bed the next day!

don't knock it untill you rock bro,i didn't see you at the track today, .an hour and a half is nothin to shake a stick at when it's 18 degree's,o i forgot you rode 4,i was qiut impressed that the 3 others that DID show up rode as long, and as hard as they did
