i put a new throttle cable on months ago and my 200x has been sitting in my parents garage for just as long unused. i finally got it to kick over last night, and i had taken the top of the carb off to make room to run my gas line. anyway when i press the thumb throttle it barely has any tension and doesn't snap back to the resting position. i know it cant be stretched out because it's new. i took the top off of the thumb throttle assembly and it looks a bit stretched out but that might just be because it's not retracting. any ideas?

I am not no mechanic, so I might be wrong, but if there is a return spring that might be stretched so it doesnt have the tension it needs to return itself back to idle. ( this happened on my minibike before) check that, and also take the cable off and check for kinks or binding, and lastly spend the few bucks and get a cable lube thing. It might not be the problem, but they do come in handy.

Is you slide back in correct ?? Check that spring. Did you get the right cable? What about ajustment do you get it ? Just checking. Is the cable for a twist and to long ?? Well there is some ideas for you .
