I think the petcock got pushed in during shipping causing a hole in the bottom of the tank. Can i smear some JB WELD quick over it to fix it? There isn't any rust, just a puncture about 1/8 of an inch long

If it works on the power steering resevoir of a station wagon it will work on a gas tank!

It didn't work on mine, had to get another tank. But that don't mean it won't work for you. Maybe I didn't prep the tank good enough before I applied the J.B. Weld. Go for it!

sand the area clean, then wipe it with solvent . rubing alcohol or thinner, let it dry and then apply.
If there is any grease or oil on the surface the jb won't stick as good as possible.
fyi.
and like someone said above.. make sure it's DRY before you put gas in it, you don't want that stuff in your carb !!!!!

JB Quick won't work. It might work, but who knows. Regular JB Weld is resistant to gasoline, the JB Quick is not.

I used the regular JB weld and It worked great to patch up several rust spots on my tank and crank case. I have never tried JB weld quick but if you want it to last just put on the regular JB weld and let set.

I have used the JB Weld Quick numerous times on multiple tanks. I will Work if the areas is clean. (no gas residue) If there is gas present, It Will not work. Will not. Clean it, and it will. Works like a charm. I even repaired the botom of a petcock with it. Remember clean, and ruff it up a little. Then put it on. :beer

I used the regular JB Weld to attach a cheap, stripped out aluminum petcock to a POS Kasea tank. The regular stuff works for sure, and is impervious to gasoline. I was surprised how well it held.

uh nothin would happen at all if its upside down..just turn it right side up and put trailprotrailpro timing back right and it will work fine..if u put it in upside down it will not even fire cause the spark aint comin at the right time

it was correct. i took off both cdi cover and stator cover, timed up all the marks and made sure cam was down. i also checked valve clearance, kicked right over. crazy high rev though with glowing hot headpipe. see my other thread for that :w00t: :Bounce

My tank cover for my one SX got messed up so I drilled a hole through it, put a piece of aluminum tubing on with the one and only JB Weld and I hope to start a thread once the JB is all set up. Worked great.
