Looks mild. They sound semi-educated at least. They have some information but not all have experience. I don't see them really bashing trikes.
Hell, I know alot of People who are not stable even on flat ground. Ok, that was a joke.
Seriously though, I would say that was pilot error. First time on a 3W and trying to tackle off cambers is a real bad idea.
To sum it up, If you didn't have the skills to fly a 747 would you try it anyway? Me niether but alot will climb on a 250SX and peg that throttle. Auto tranny was the worst thing Honda ever did.
On a side note, this thread belongs in the open forum. I'm sure it will be moved but now its extra work for our friendly admins.

Does Chevy still make a man's truck? Oh that girlie front end from the avalanche is a truck? I have only been stranded when I owed Chevys. I'd rather have a Dodge, and I drive one at work and it almost caught on fire when I pulled out the light switch, lol. I looked at Tahoes when I bought my last SUV and I wasn't impressed, rough ride, lacking power, and little tiny rear doors!

190K on my 89 Chevy K1500 shortbed. Runs like a top, has never let me down, and has recovered several stuck Fords, a few Chevys, and a lot more. My chevy's tuff as nails and I'd trust no other. No more chevy bashing!!

I will never trust another Chevy, unless I have the cell phone to call AAA! LOL. Definetly not a fan of anything made by GM, too much bad luck! 1979 F-150 250k+ miles and had no troubles was still running when sold 4x4 model, too. It was almost indestructable! Truck are not supposed to wear bowties :naughty:

Every poor little in breeder has parts for the chevys, there are a ton broken in the junk yard and all the parts match up so any inbreeder can repair theirs when it inevitably breaks. But little boys need toys so they can butcher them back together. Chevy=Junk around here, wouldn't take a new one if you gave it to me. Would sell it for scrap or to some inbreeder and get a real mans truck (Ford, Dodge, or Toyota). Heck I'd even take one of those fugly Nissan Titans before a Silverado. Why? Too many bad experiences with damn chevys. :naughty:

Hey mark, I'm a Chevy man all the way but I thought you would get a kick out of this. I was at a local mud bog and they had a live band and between song's the guy was telling joke's about 4x4's and stuff. Anyway he said that GMC stand's for 'Get My Chain' I couldn't help but laugh. Dude the K20 is a money pit because I am constantly putting go fast parts on it, making it scream doesn't happen for free. That truck has done me nothing but good. The reason all those government institutions use Chevy's is because they run forever! A Chevy is like a fine woman, it will treat you only as good as you treat it, thats why people who beat their chevy trucks to trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro are all pissed off with Chevy's. The fact is my 1976 truck runs frickin' better than all my friends import cars and SUV's any day. There is a reason the smallblock Chevy has and will always be the number 1 performance engine: It hauls ass, lasts forever, and its way cheaper than a 426! I ran into a guy who had a GM diesel that had no mechanical problems whatsoever after 600, 000 miles! 1 engine, 1 truck, 1 owner, 600, 000 miles. Now that may be a diesel, but I will always fall back on my Chevy whenever I need a solid, bullet proof, high horsepower power plant. What else? It is made in AMERICA, I can guaruntee that any part I would ever need would be here, it is a no frills, no gimmicks, no plastic, made of metal, badass machine and I don't know about you guys, but thats what matters to me.

Guys...there is no use in bickering over this...each truck had their good years...everything before 66 was Ford...then 66-72 was chevy ( i love them c10's)...then it was somewhat of a tie until the early 80's when chevy took the title for best truck...then in 97 Ford came out with the newly designed F-150 which blew the crap out of a chevy (thats what i drive...97 F-150 5.4L Triton 4x4)...But as of right now...i think its somewhat of a tie...cause my dad just bought a 05 Silverado 4 door 4x4 with all leather and the works...and its like a caddy on 33 inch mud terrains...but ford and Nissan are also producing some great trucks at the moment...Dodge will always have it for the fastest truck i feel...if i wanted a hot rod truck i would definately be going to dodge, they have so many sport models to choose from right now...from the hemi to the srt-10...and then all the different packages
and piston head...ill happily give you a run...granted those old small block 350's CAN run fast...but your forgetting they only start with about 180 horsepower...new technology has surpassed those old carb motors...i hate to say it but you can buy a import family sedan with as much horse power as an old chevy pickup...BUT...if you know what your doing it is possible to get 400 horsepower for under 1000 dolllars...i still have the article in hot rod magazine for that project
Pistonhead
01-23-2005, 01:43 PM
There is still no replacement for displacement though. Although some of those sedans may have the same horsepower, they don't have V8 torque, thats why them old Chevy trucks can whoop those sedans. Plus those imports are punched out to their peak at how ever many horses they are making, an SB Chevy has almost no limits.
If we are talking sport trucks though, Dodge will forever be king, their sport trucks come fast factory, they created the first sport truck: the Dodge dude.
jakey
01-23-2005, 02:23 PM
its 2 different styles of driving...for the imports...rev em up and drop the clutch...and for the truck put it in drive and gun it...but you're still only talking about low 200's ft. lbs of torque

01-23-2005, 02:25 PM
True that...the 350's do have unlimited possibilities...but i've also seen a Nissan Skyline beat a Blown camaro down a 1/4...im by no means an import lover...i just dont like it when people think that their off road rig is a fricking funny car...or those people that can't appreciate somebody who can take 2.0 liter engine and pump out 500 hp

I cannot be the only guy that isn't a fan of the 350. They always have seemed like a finiky motor. It always wanted to be adjusted, and when anything was not exactly to spec it ran like garbage. That is why I like Fords, they have an interval between service necessities. I always hated it when I had the Chevy, man the Advance Auto guy was my best friend, as it always needed something.
As for the eras of Trucks, I agree with the first 2 up til 72, after that the solid axle Fords from 73-79 were far superior to Chevy (this is the Chevy rustbucket age), 80-86 Fords lost ground due to the TTB front axles, 88 and up Chevys also became weak with IFS and weren't nearly as cool looking as the pre 88 Chevys. Ford also went the weak way in 97, and got the advantage of ride quality on road that Chevy had since 88. Neither is that great for off road purposes. (I own 2000 F-150 4x4 and it is as good as any IFS can be). With the solid axle F-350 from 87 and up the ton class has been completely owned by Ford. That continues today with the 2nd place in ton going to Dodge. The new Chevys are unimpressive and that design is just plain GAY!
I am no sport truck fan, but Chevy and Ford had sport trucks long before Dodge (Lightning and 454SS). That SRT 10 is fast but like the Lightning what can you tow with it? What can you carry, since it is a truck?
There is no way that that old 76 Chevy runs anywhere near as good as an import car! LOL That is hillarious! I needed a good laugh this morning!

Mark...I agree that the Solid Axles are better for off road purposes...but not by much unless you are doing some SERIOUS rock climbing where you need massive travel...I know our Fords in the mud are just as capable if equipped right as any solid axle chevy or Ford...plus the Triton motors just flat out ROCK..
But we do own a 84 cj7 with dana 44...sooo...as far as offroad..i think that takes it

Dude when my neighbour is melting the starter on his toyota, my K20 starts on one turn of the key, then try cold weather, its fun watching all the little hondas and toyotas sitting there revving their little starter motors till the the fricking thing melts. My buddies buddy had a little Honda prelude that wouldn't frickin' start in any weather, then I hopped in the custom deluxe, turned the key, bam it was sitting there ready to rock on one turn of the key. No I don't have a $200 dragster starter motor, I have a stock starter.

I'm just going to let this thread die, because you can't make me hate Chevy's, and I can't make you like them, so we are pretty much wasting our breath. Though if you think all 70's Chevy trucks are beat to trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro and rusted out I leave you with something to think about:

Nice truck pistonhead, I have an old '79 Chevy stepdide shortbox with a 250 straight six and a three-on-the-tree. You cant kill one of those straight 6 motor's, but I'm trying to find a decent 350 to drop in 'Betsy Lou' to give her more power for pulling trailer's. Plus I just like the sound of loud ass dual exhaust coming out of a V8.

I by no means hate a chevy...keep in mind my favorite vehicle is a 67 chevy c10...but saying that new import vehicles are less reliable then a early model motor is outrageous...some American racing rims would top off that truck nicely too...im thinking torque II's...
