Did anyone ever hear of drilling small holes in the ink cartriges and refilling them? One bad thing about these computers is that nothing seems compatible with them and you have to buy dell cartriges for dell computers! $53 + shipping. I was told about the hole drilling but don't know where exactly to do this. Any one ever try?

dell usually uses lexmark or some form of hp printer... just brands them with a dell.. take your cartrige to compusa or some other computer store and match it up...

the refills work, but can reek havoc if done incorrectly.

See that's just the thing, I went out to officemax the other day and asked about the ink cartriges for a dell a920 and was told the only thing i can do is buy them directly from dell. Now, I have heard about refillable ink cartriges for printers and was wondering if anyone has them or used them for the dell printer. I use alot of ink making dvd covers and was thinking refilling would be a cheaper way to go, Ive seen refill kits on egay for just a couple bucks. Any ideas?

yep. they work. for a few refills.

If you use it frequently it's better because they don't get all dry and crusty and blocked.

Clean the connections with rubbing alcohol and q-tips, pritner and cartridge.

then the kits come with a tiny drill ( some do , some don't ) make the hole in an aerea that will not interfeer with the installation of the cartridge. up higher is better. Then seal it with either epoxy glue or hot-glue would probably work too.. the instructions will guide you thru it. depends on the kit you buy !

they work, but after a few re-fills you have to eventually replace it.. specially if they DRY out. !

I don't have a digital camera. I don't think trying to explain it would help any. Do you need a refill kit for a specific ink cartrige or are they universal. I'm kinda new at all this computer lingo. basically all they are is a syringe and some ink right?

basically, but i would try to find the kit that works with your printer.. basically the difference is the instructions, which is nice to have..

The quantity they old may differ, but ink is ink.

thanks guys you have been most helpful. I guess what it boils down to is I'm to cheap to keep buyin cartriges. I'm gonna try the refill thingy and see what happens. As long as it comes with instructions it should be a no-brainer. Thanks again
