Seems like a good deal to me, especially anyone that wants a 110 or 90 ATC70

Thats a pretty bloody good idea. Even though im not a fan of cheap chinese stuff it is still cool to think you can buy a new engine and bolt it into your Atc 70 - 110. I wonder how they fair against the originals. I doubt they would be near as reliable, but power wise???

I wonder if you could somehow make that 200cc electric start motor a forward kicker using part's from the 200x motor. That would be a neat project to put one of those in a 200x frame like you were saying trikeaholic.

I've been told by my mechanic that those motor are far inferior to a honda motor and parts are very hard to get. He worked on a on a xr50 with one of those motors and it was nothing but a huge PITA. I'd stay away from them. You have to ask yourself, why would honda sell the rights and tooling to THEIR motor designs to another company.

simple economics. Why did the russians sell the AK design to the chinese? not only were they loose allies, but sale of finished goods may have been illegal, kind of like the cuban situation. If Honda wanted the billions of dollars represented by the largest country-population wise in the world, why not sell the rights to thier product? Possibly the chinese wanted the jobs, and Honda wanted some sales. GM, Ford and others are currently setting up shop in China, and the Chinese use the basic design and tooling, but also tinker with the products and make some changes. If a company can make millions licensing an old, outdated product to another manufacturer, why would they NOT do it? THis is very common in China. THey save the R&D money and the original designer still gets paid. I think its great. If the chinese are making engines for our dinosaurs, and they are cheap, whats not to like about that??
If they are inferior to Honda built, thats not a big surprise, afterall, the Chinese are known for shaving pennies off most of their products by not being too concerned about the products longevity.

... That being said and 100% true, if you read about them in the bids, it says they got them because Hondas patents expired and they bought the original machine tools. Honda, probably seeing no use for the old design motors, never renewed and sold the machinery off. Bash them all you want, but I am seriusly considering an electric start one for my worn out ATC70.

If the tooling was Honda's, all the parts should interchange. Wonder what happened to some of the other tooling...

Alright.. stupid question.. When you say Hondas "tooling" what do you mean? The molds for the cases and other parts? Or what?

The dies, the moulds, any of the "specialized", specific and sometimes "one off" machinery involved in production.

The guy that bought my CT70 races MX with his two boys. Instead of building a big bore CRF50 for a pit bike like everyone else, he is using these motors in the CT frame he said all the Honda parts are interchangeable and he has some big bore kits I think they were 83cc.. Him and a few of his racing buddies bought a lot of 5 of the 70 motors for like $1200. Ive been thinking of getting a motor for the boys 70.........

The 200cc engines I sell are not the same as Honda, they are better in a lot of ways. They have multi-plate cam chains similar to a 350X, bearing cam, 400EX style cam chain tensioner system, larger fin area on the cylinder and head, 17mm piston pin, compact engine electrics all mounted in the bottom end, top mounted electric starter, manual clutch plus more. They bolt into any of the 185-200cc Honda trikes and I can say they are a first class engine inside and out. There is a lot of late model technology in older Honda style cases. I think the 200cc engines on Ebay are snotty push rod engines, so be carefull. P.M me if anyone is interested in the better ones.

id rather not pay 850 for one of those p.o.s's that engine even looks junk..i could do a complete engine over haul and bore and port and polish for that price..and a pipe and silencer..not even worth it..IMO

GreenHuman never ceases to amaze me with his awesome engineering skills. Hey Mate, do you have any engines that will fit the 250es? Shaft Drive???
Thanks

Is everybody talking about the same motors? Somebody said you cant get parts for them, but from the ad I gather that they are completely interchangeable with Honda parts. Somebody said they look like a Blaster motor, yet they are all 4 strokes. Has anybody had any actual experinces with the specific brand being auctioned, or are we lumping all Chinese made engines into the same category? Actually, I cant even find anything in the auction that says it IS Chinese made. Where did that information come from? The idea of a new replacement motors sounds appealing to all of us, and it would be helpful to separate factual information based on first hand knowledge from perception based on an auction photo. I dont know anything about these, but I just dont see where some of the comments are coming from or what they are based on.
The only Chinese (Taiwan) motors I have experience with are the ones that were put in the E-Tons, then the same motor was put in Sundiro, T-ReX, Xtreme, Blazer, DRR, Kasea, Alpha Sport, POLARIS, and many others, and Ive got to say that I formed a very high opinion of those motors.

These engines have to be better then what I have now in my mini's. You remember the pict I posted of the Carbs I cant even jet. I was looking at putting the 110 into em after when I did go about seeing trading these in for a better known mini for the kids. Costs well, I would lose alot, in tradein or outright selling. Especially since it involves 2. The frame I have are excellent size. And I am tired of worn out engines. A nice fresh beater engine for my kids I think is the right ticket. Kasea the brand I have now, 2 offbrand boys we bought right when they were making their push on their quads has discontinued this lineup that I now own. Not only that but their reputation preceeds them everywhere I go. So with these engines, I am still less then a new mini. and here you times that by 2. I have the emailed em, I have 2 hangups for conversion, the drivechain and how the carb fits.
