Get an SX, best all around.

I'd say either 250sx, or 250 big red. Shaft drive, 5 speed autoclutch, reverse, electric start with backup kickstart. The big red was the more utility, while the sx was sport utility, although the have the same engines and other features.

I am new to this, But id say 350x Since its four stroke, Full Suspension never hurts and you can get the utility racks for it from DennisKirk.com

the 250 has quite a bit more.. trust me !

the 350x would be cool. for sure.. but it's manual clutch if that's your thing ! the SX is 4 stroke.. just like a big red. but looks better .

If you want a honda its preference, pure utility and utility looking then get a big red (probably like an 85 and up in year). A utility with sporty looks then an SX. The other companies I'm not sure about because I'm a honda man.

Man you guys arent being straight up with this guy. The 1985-1987 Honda BigReds are the biggest, toughest, and most comfortable of all the trikes. Like drivin a Lincoln. Has front a rear racks that you can pile stuff on, Has bigger tires, and has a rear hitch. If you are going to be on some rough terrain, and pulling/draging stuff, the BigRed is the way to go. I had a SX and my BigRed at the same time. They were and still are near perfect. The size and comfort difference between the 2 are like day and night. The BigRed is also geared a little lower. Im 6'3" and it fits me fine, the SX always seemed small. Best all around Utility trike is a 250ES BigRed. :beer

the problem with 84-85 and up is Price. i am on a low budget and have to focus on truck ($3500) and boat ($10000-20000) for the next few years.

A YTM225DR with a rack kit will give you the best of both worlds in my opinion.

I would say Yamaha 225DX (full suspension, electric start, shaft drive, easy to add racks to if needed) the 225DR would be better because it has reverse but there are not as many around. The Honda 200E would also be great because it has the hi-low range but no rear suspension, again the 200ES would be better but there are not as many around.

What do you all think about the KLT 250???? my buddy has one, and uses it for a lot of farm work..like errands, pullling hay wagons (mainly empty..have a couple bails), hunting, feeding cattle ect. it works great for him..around here however, they are HARD to find..

The 85-87 HONDA BIG RED 250ES is the best utility trike ever made. PERIOD.

Yeah but remember that he said "fairly cheap" so that takes both the 250es and 250sx out of the question in my book. If you find an es or sx for cheap then jump on it but otherwise look for something else.

Well being that I got my 87 BIGRED for $100. Um thats cheap. That was before the resto though. :D I have turned down $1800. Anyway you can find them for cheap if your look hard enought. Hell Mikefromlongisland bought his wife one for $500. I know where there is one for sale in south GA for $650. Decent shape too. You can find them. They are near bullet proof. :p Anyway get one! :naughty: You wont be dissapointed. :beer

None of these Big Reds are fast or nimble, if thats what your after buy a 660 Raptor, so with that understanding I bought the '84 200es because it's the 1st shaft drive, coupled with reverse, a great engine/trans and the older classic styling. IMO you won't go wrong with an '84 BR and it could prove to be the most valuable as time goes on.

The first motorized anything I ever owned was an 86 250sx, the kid said that the timing chain was broke and he sold it to me for $100 because he thought thats what he could get for it if he parted it out. Little did he know, all it needed was a new sparkplug! You should of seen the look on his face the next day at school when I told him that! lol! There's great deals out, their just few and far in between.
