My friend has a KLT160 that he'll sell to me for 75$ canadian. One day it lost spark so we put a different coil on it and it started and than died with no spark again. Now he has a new coil on it and it has spark. The carb is off it so he never even tried to start it. It has no rear fenders but decides thats it in faily good shape

i removed the side case on the stator side to remove excess oil around the stator to get spark back in a klt185 last summer. i think it had a bad crank seal.
i only had it for 2 days ,,, sold it off in a yard sale.

I got it today and put it together. The tank and fenders, seat aren't that bad. I cleaned the carb and put the coil on. I poured some gas down the head and eventually got it going. It revved high for a minute and smoked prety bad. It revved down and will idle fine but if I hit the throttle and than release it it continues to rev high for like 5-10 seconds and than idles down. I played with the idle but it doidnt help. I never put the air filter on. Will that help? Any suggestions Please

Yes..... put the air filter back on it... w/o the air filter, it will be sucking so much free air, that it WILL rev high..... I learned this one for "theolderfox" when we got my 225DX to start finally!

make sure the throttle cable is lubbed up real nice. Are you sure you put the carb back together correct?

I dont really think this is going to help , just from past experiences. However I will try it after school tomorrow. Has anyone heard much about these wheelers. I'm a Honda fan and have heard that these are junk.

It doesnt't seem to have much compression and it smokes so If I replace the rings will both these problems be resolved?

Ok today I put the air filter on and lubed up the cable and the problem was resolved. It was running excellent for a few minutes but now it bogs out when you get past half throttle. I cleaned the air filter, now what?
