On an 84 Big Red i'm not seeing the T in the timing hole. Is there any special way to look at it or is there something else I have to do? Also should the cam be set with the two lobs somewhat upwards when you put the cam gear on or opposite of that? I guess you can only put it two ways since the circle on the cam gear has to be up.

If you can't find the "T" then try this: Turn the motor over by hand until the Piston is up top ( closest to the head ). Then point the cam lobes downward and install the sprocket with the little circle up top. The little circle should align ( or real close ) with the "V" in the top part of the head. Tighten everything down to spex and the cam timing should be set correctly.
