Putting the bikes side by side you notice a few things:

1) The Tri Z feels alot bigger when you sit on it.
2) The Honda swingarm is alot shorter
3) These are both some very nicely designed machines
4) The fork forks are both Showa's and look very similar
5) The Yamaha front rim is huge compared to the honda and has much less sidewall
6) The Tri Z just seems like a bigger, longer machine. Maybe thats why it was a slower turner than the R, and...

GOD I MISS THREE WHEELERS!!

Your right, the Z is biger. That is one reason I made the switch to a Z from the R. They are a lot more comfortable and easier to throw around. With Tri Z it is like a controled chaos as opposed to simple chaos. ;)

Good point. Once I ride the R I'll let you know which I like better.

I may be bias, but I think you will appreciate your Z more. The way the Z is designed it feels as though you are sitting in it and not on it. Alomst like your are a part of it. The R has the rider sitting to far above the handle bars and it is not as a comfortable ride, and takes more effort to control.

Thanks MassTrike....

I am sure people are getting tired of seeing them....but I see them every day and don't tire of them.

Lonesome...good point. The 86 R feels more like you are sitting on it. The 85 R feels like you are sitting 'in it'. No doubt the seat.

I am sure the R is better on a motorcross track because of the much shorter wheelbase.

I am interested in how these stock motors compare.

I can not say how one performs over the other on the track. But I do know the Z corners a lot better because of the low center of gravity and the diplacement of wieght in the center of the trike.

No lonesome they just produce more trikes.....

Darius, you need to get them out and stretch their legs.

You know what? I bet your right. I can say with with certainty that the tri Z is not the mother. ;)

The Tri Z seem like a much bigger, longer machine in person. The rear fenders are very short so it makes the rear end seem very wide.

LOL @ DARIUS... Dude I check out all of your post just because I hope to see pics of your sweet machines. How could we ever get sick of them?

Are your machines strictly garage queens? Or do they see a ride now and then? :TrikesOwn

I ride them a couple times per year. They get dusty but never muddy.

Can we ride them a couple times a year too? :D

Just so, so freakin sweet! On a scale of 1-10 they would definitly be above a 10 and break the scale! Where are you from ?

Hope near me! I'm NE PA. 60 miles above Philidelphia.

I definetly like the looks of the R so much better. Having ridden both models frequently, I can say the R handles far better and is much easier to throw around. The Z gets good marks for low end grunt but sits too high in the rear and it doesn't feel quite right. I am a big guy 6'3" 240lbs and like the feel of sitting down in the bike rather than on it! It gives much better feedback to the rider! I like the Z, but it isn't very comfortable to ride for a long period of time. I can ride the R all day and feel much better than I do on the Z.

Oh and the R is definetly the KING, maybe the Z is the queen! :naughty:
