well, first off let me say hi! im a complete newb when it comes to cycle motors. i can hold my own when it comes to cars...but this is something totally new to me. i ended up getting an old 90 atc from my grandpa about 10 years or so ago. got it fixed up, ran great...untill my brother rolled it into the pond. since then...it has not worked. i didnt really know that much and so it has sat outside in the field for a while. my folks have recently talked of moving, and we were gonna haul alot of stuff off including the trike. well, ever since i got it, i really wanted to gut the engine, trans, and sprocket and built a dune buggy.

i figured id pull the engine and see if it was fixable, of it if was electrical probs (they dont like water either). so anyways, i got the motor completely out, and im working on the head. i got off the "valve cover" type thing, removed all 4 nuts. i removed the magneto. so here is my problem...the head (or what seems like the head. it contains the valves) wont come off! it will move about 1/16" and go no more. its like its stuck on something. i can see the pushrods and everything...whats holding it on? i sat there for 2 hours this evening trying to figure out why it wont just slip off. i know the head studs arent supposed to come out.

any help is greatly appreciated.

p.s. im not sure if he hydrolocked the engine...i realy hope not. no valves appear to be bent..but then again i havent seen the inside surface either.

The cam chain is preventing you from removing the head.
