Does anyone know If someone makes aftermarket front sprocket covers for the 85' 200X? I'm not sure if honda discontinued them but they are getting hard to find.

Also, what are case savers? Do they serve the same purpose? I seen somewhere they make them for the 250R are they availalbe for the 200X. What do these things do?

Is it OK to run your machine without either one of these things?

Does anyone know if they are discontinued. Will not running with one increase the chances of throwing the chain? I see them on ebay once in a great while but the bidding on them gets totally out of control.

I have heard about case savers but never seen one mounted on a motor will installing one of these lessen the chance of throwing the chain and doing damage to the engine?

Dammit!

Case savers have nothing to do with throwing the chain. They simply protect the case in the event you do throw a chain. The stock 200x sprocket cover is not much of a case saver if I recall correctly. More of a cover than anything. Very thin and easily broken.

The best defense against throwing a chain is simply to use QUALITY chains instead of the cheap-o's, always make sure your sprockets are in good shape and installed correctly and always keep your chain tensioned properly.

A thrown chain should be very rare under normal riding conditions if everything is done to spec on the bike. In all my years of riding I've only thrown a chain one time. It was on my 200x, it broke the sprocket cover to pieces and it was my fault. I was running with a worn front sprocket like a dummy. Lesson learned. It hasn't happened since then and that was nearly 20 years ago.

Hey Dammit, speakin of 200X's did you ever check back on that beauty you posted a little while back?

OK, here's the thing, I've been reading through the threads lately and I see that I'm not the only one having problems with a 200X. I'm on the virge of finnaly gettin this thing running and would like to keep it that way for a while. I've heard of people throwing chains and splitting the engine case in the process. That is the last thing I need to happen.

Another reason I ask is that I replaced the sprocket and the weird shaped washer with the 3 bolts that holds it on, and there seems to be some wiggle in it. The only other atv I've owned with a chain was a warrior and never had to mess with the chain or sprockets, so this is unchartted territory for me.

If I get this trike runnin and something like that happened and ended up ripping it apart again I will loose my mind!

Those stock sprocket covers are probably made from cast aluminium and would seem to break very easily. So if I could find one of those case savers I think it would be worth the investment.

Does anyone know if the case saver from a 250r will fit the 200x? I did a search and found that they are readily available for the 250r but can't seem to find any for the 200x. What about the 350X will that fit?
