Hey all, what front tires are you running on your Big Reds and similar trikes? I am running a Dirt Devil now but its about shot, and I never quite liked the way it rode.

Whatever you do, run some 6 plys. I learned that the hard way. Right now on my Big Red I have some cheap 2 plys but I want to get mud lites for it. I saw a BIG RED on Ebay with mud lites and it looked pretty good.

My front tire is the original 1985 tire from Ohtsu. It's almost time to replace it too. When I do have to replace it I think I will just get an factory replacement from Ohstu. The Original tires on my 250es are Ohtsu PA501's.

Here is the link to the 250es tire:

Yeah, I like the stock Ohtsu tires for the big red. That's what I have on my '87 right now, they are a good all around tire. If you're planning on mudd riding mainly, then get the mudlites.

I was looking for something that doesn't slide or push in the mud when turning. That has been my biggest gripe with the Dirt Devil. I replaced my old Spyder Traks with Vampires out back and its a little hard to steer in slick mud.

It is going to be harder to steer in mud with a wider tire on the front. Unlike the skinner tires you find on the front of a 200x or 250r. I would think any type of knobbie tire would work better than a mud tire. Mud tires are designed for forward bite not the sideways bite you need for steering.

Call me crazy but I was thinking of maybe Maxxix All-Trak or a Kenda Viper. I'm open for any and all suggestions.

I would definitaly go with some sort of knobbie style. There are a million of them out there. I would also suggest spending the extra cash and going with the 4 or 6 ply. They are way more puncture resistant.
