it should be a required law. alot of people die from crashes that a helmet could have saved. the one time i was ridin without a helmet i smashed into a well and drove my teeth through my lip. only took me 1 time to realize. and yes once in a while i drive without a helmet but i do realize it and am more cautious without one.

it should not be required by law, because if it was, i would have to spend 600+ to legally be able to ride.. why you as? a 29 inch diamiter head pretty much puts a SERIOUS LIMIT on what i can get..

Its your choice to put on a lid or not.. the skid lid i use for the bike, altho wont really suffice any other protection than the top part of my head.. is good for just the bike.. and should NOT be a required item to ride

Just like seat belts, it should not be a requirement or a law for ME to choose NOT to wear them (and i dont, and have beaten the law in court on that issue)

What I dont understand is that here in PA atleast motorcyclists can ride without helmets doin 65+ mph on the highway while they make it manditory for ATV riders. It should be made manditory for all, but in the end it is the rider's choice. Poor guy.

I got stuck in a muddy water Ditch and was bustin loose up the other side. After about 1/2 hour of this crap I took off my helmet because I was sweating bad. i BUST A MOVE AND im making it out, then my quad just flipped over and came down Handle Bars to face 1st. I was under water and mud trying to push off this quad. This dude who was driving by and saw it happen stopped and rushed in there and hauled off my quad. With the helmet I wouldnt of got my face smashed but as for the drowning part that was pure luck someone saw it happen. I must admit that when I ride in my yard sometimes I dont wear a Helmet, but I cant get out of 3rd gear. Although I have tipped my Trikes at less than 10 mph. I believe when your time is up its up but I believe that dude would have lived if he had his helmet on.

Instead of calling him a fool, you should pray for his family and loyal friend. Sheesh.

No one called anyone a fool especially the dude who died. The Post say Read this u non helmet reading Fools Pretty much. My helmet is all messed up and cracked from my friend crashing my quad. If he didnt have a helmet on he wouldnt have a face, and his head would of got Hit hard. But as I said sometimes when I warm up my trike I dont wear a helmet. 90% I do due to some close calls with dirt bikes Quads Trikes and the Damn Pool at the Skate Park. I got a soft mellon :(

Bone heads don't wear helmets because their skulls are thicker than normal people's skulls. You can tell all the disaster stories you like but it won't get through their thicker than average noggins.

I've seen and heard about a few deaths on atv's with and w/o helmets.Helmets reduce the risk of injury but cant prevent injury.
Looks like your bro inlaw was very lucky.Did he or is he going to make a full recovery??The neck injury looks bad but I bet the burns didnt feel too good either. Them harleys are dangerous and should be banned.
You can preach helmets til your blue in the face. There's always going to be a few people that refuse to wear them.I wear mine 95% of the time. When I'm not wearing it,I'm usually just toolin around in my grass.I have some wicked dents and scratches on my helmet from wrecks,I use them as a reminder for what could've happened to my head. I say throw on some goggles too.Protecting your eyesight is just as important as your head. Also the cost of riding gear is alot cheaper than a visit to the hospitol.
,,,,,,make sure you buckle the helmet too.
