possibly, but before checking that i would check that the idle screw is set down....in is high out is low, check you have the carb slide in the right way, next check the floats for cracks, leaks ect dont forget about the air/fuel screw to, in for richer mixture, out for leaner mixture,

Sounds like you have an airleak, not a needle problem. I'd spray wd-40 or starter fluid around the intake - if it revs up, you have a leak.

the ptoblem is i cant even start it to spray wd-40 bc it revs soo high it would blow up hahaha

Have you checked all that mytrikesucks had mentioned. set air/crew mixture all the way in then back out 1 1/2 turns. What all ahve you tried. Help us out here.

that sounds a little to drastic for a air leak sounds more like a throttle cable or carb sticking problem to me.

Have you ever had the carb apart?. I almost blew up my '82R one time because I was in a hurry, not paying attention, and I replaced the slide in backwards so it was stuck open about 1/2 way when I started it.

well i made sure there are no air leaks bc i checked for cracks and i took everything apart and put new gaskets in. So then i proceded to mess with the idle screw and it still revs to the moon...and thats where im at????i didnt see any other screws to adjust

Make sure your throttle v/v sides up and down freely in carb. It has to line up with a little notch inside carb tube. Also you said you that you only found one carb screw, it sounds like you found the one that adjusts idle, it is just below the throttle valve. There should also be a air/fuel adjusting screw about 2 inches to the right of this, turn this all the way in then back out 1 1/2 turns. If not there it could of fell out giving you the problem also.

ok i got it to stop revving my messing with the pilot screw...now the ptoblem is that it pops at high rpm?

Put some fuel injection cleaner in tank it will help clean out anything sticking or passages that didn't clean up good. Tell us how you make out after running a tank through it.
