View Full Version : Open-Element Air Filters & OuterWears Covers...
I have a clamp on UNI Filter on my Tri-Z. I was thinking of buying one of the outerwears covers for it. Anyone have any experience with these covers? How good of a job do they do? Do you have to re-jet?
Thanks! :-D

They are awesome! I have one on all three of my ATVs (TRX 250R, 350x, 200s), I have one on the K&N drop in for my '01 Ford F250, and they even made one for me for my nitro powered R/C monster truck. No rejetting needed (except for the K&N itself). The beauty is you never have to clean your K&N again. They are also a great company to work with. Call their 800 number and give them the K&N part number and you can pick whatever color you want for the Outerwear. While you are at it buy the Shockwear for your rear shock. NO I don't work for them, but have been more than satisfied with their product.
Their website is www.outerwearsracing.com

Sorry, I kept referring to your filter as a K&N. The Outerwear will work for the Uni filters as well. You will need the measurements for he filter before you call them. It is easier with the K&N filters because they also sell them, but with measurements they can even make one for you if they don't stock one that fits.
Hey thanks WI!
I will check out there site and I appreciate the info.
Do those covers help any with water and mud? I'm talking just from normal trail riding, not trying to play submarine or going muddin. :-D

The shock covers are also great. It protects your shock's shaft, and seals from the elements. It will also prevent the shock from freezing up in the winter from packed ice or snow. I need a pair for my Foreman really bad.

They actually make a Water Resistant version. Just ask them when you call to make sure you get it. I believe that all of the "filter" outerwears are Water Resistant, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Works great for Mud. Just slip the Outerwear off and rinse the mud off, let it dry and you are ready to go again.
Your welcome!

hey WI, just because you run an outwears dosen't mean you don't need to clean your filter, I keep my K&N's recharged once a week. expecially with alot of riding. I would suggest that everyone do this if they plan on keeping their K&N for it's full life span. As for the UNI filters, I have never seen anyone use an outwears with one, they have some from the company, that is a dencer foam cover...

Outwears are great. I have one on my honda and it does buy you a lot of extra time between cleanings. You do still have to clean though.

Yes, you guys are right about cleaning. I guess I was just going on what I do. Because I have 3 ATVs and don't ride them as much as I would like, I don't really clean them at all because they never get a chance to get dirty. Before Outerwears I would ride once in the mud and have to clean it!
