Anybody come home with a monster buck? I managed to get a doe on opening day with a bow. The next night in the same stand I shot another doe. During rifle season I connected with a huge doe with my 7mm Mag. Gotta love those backstraps!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :TrikesOwn

I got 3 this year. I got a big 6 that grossed 127(not bad!), a spike with the muzz, and a nice 8 that grossed in the mid 130's, that buck had some nice mass. And I managed to miss a couple :-p

Well this is like a " the one that got away" fish story. Opening day of muzzle-loader i was hunting out at our 80acres in a hay-field and saw the biggest buck i have EVER seen hunting. I was at one end of the field in a tree-stand and one of my uncles was a good 200 yards away in a tree-stand at the other end of the field. So i'm sitting there, waiting, waiting, and then 2 does came flying out of the pine trees about a hundred yards away kind of quartering towards me, i thought all-right i'll fill a doe-tag. They werent 20 feet into the field and i saw a giant rack running out of the pines, this is about when buck-fever sat in. The does kept coming towards me and the buck followed, they were 50 to 75 yards out then the does started turning away. I whistled to get there attention and to my surprise they stopped ( which is strange for it being rut and the buck chasing them). so when they stopped i put my cross-hairs on the chest of the buck and pulled the trigger. There was a giant cloud of smoke and then 3 white-tails going the opposite way. I got down and checked for a good hour-and a half and there was no blood, hair, nothing. MISS!!! I know i could count at least 10 points before i shot and my uncle that was 200 yards away said he knows it was at least a 14 pt!!! Moral of this story? Take the few minutes it takes and sight in your gun before headin out for opening day.

I saw a massive 8 point running away from me in a field which I had no acess to so I couldn't shoot. Right before dark I took a 300 yard shot at a doe and heard the thump, so the next morning I go to look in the crusty old frozen over snow, and believe it or not I find 2 or 3 very very small droplets of blood in the snow, I tracked all afternoon with no luck unfortunately. I also took a 100 yard shot at a running buck-miss. Then one weekend as I was heading into camp I see some small does running away so I turn off the truck and wait-They come up at like 40 yards and I got the gun on a fencepost, I shoot and completely miss! The moral as well- dont put a $75 used scope on a 1 year old high dollar Browning rifle. I also saw not one but 2 absolutely massive mule deer bucks-like huge spread and at least 10 or more points not counting drop tines- both from the truck in fields I had no acess to though, and I had a buck mule tag too!!!! I'll be hunting those monster bucks again though come fall when I answer the call of the woods, until then I wreak havoc upon the gophers.

Nuthin ......... I only went for one day though. Here in Pa there is a HUGE deer problem right now - and yet I managed to do nothing about it lol. The crazy thing is, I went 4hrs north to hunt and right in my fathers backyard here in the suburbs, theres a small herd of deer living on @10 acres, with a massive 8 - 10 pter waiting to be picked off.

Oh but the game commision says the deer population isnt bad right now, although they also say there arent any mountain lions yet almost everyone has seen one.

I Saw Lots of Sign that Idiots were usning my Tree Stands and have an idiot up the road that takes his Quad around the woods right Past Myself and Two Brothers as we are lined up along Powerlines. And all of this during Bow Season. WTF.
My County gave anyone 2 doe permits and other counties close got none so the woods was full of Idiots that just came in and used the Spots I spent the Last few Years Dialing in.
I did see 3 deer, all during Bow season, as there were twice as many Idiots during Gun Season. Opening Day Of Shotgun I had a Dead Tree in my Tree Stand and a dude on the other side of the Beaver Dam behind my house. Ruined that morning and it was pretty much like that all season. Someone Put up a Sweet Ladder stand 50 yards in front of my ladder stand along the Marsh. 4 Stands all pretty much useless.
I had a sweet Crotch Horn walk right up to me and watch me try to pull my Bow Back 4 Times. I just couldnt Pull it back due to a Shoulder Injury. Of course he just sat there and watched me and laughed as he Trotted off, and two Does who saw me turn in my Tree Stand.
It makes me want to buy a Camp up in the Adirondaks so I dont have to see anyone during the season. And its full of sweet Trails for my Ride :beer

I love people that know how many points the deer have and they always manage to get away.

I didn't get one this year. The Game & Fish cut our limit down from two to one so I was waiting for a good one.I had several nice ones come to me,but never saw the "big one" I was hunting.Next year I'll be after him again. This one was from the previous season,he was a little over 200 pounds before dressing him.I damn near sunk my big red trying to get him home.

A very small button buck met its demise from my .454 Casull slug in the white spot on its throat on a direct frontal shot at 55 yards. Those little ones are quite tastey, but the bad part, theres not much there, and Ive only got a couple packs of meat left.
I lived in Pa. a year and half, and Ive got to say, the antler size restrictions are moronic. Ive never seen so many old unhealthy deer in my life. Id see 30 in a day, and not one was "legal". What I did see was bucks that were too old to even grow antlers anymore, and does so old, that they were way beyond their reproductive years. So much of the habitat is eaten up by old deer that dont reproduce, and that you cant shoot, and their solution is to only allow you to kill off the few rare healthy ones. Its amazing they border Ohio with an abundant supply of huge healthy deer, and havent figured out how that happened.

What's the restrictions in your area? Here, they went to the 3 point rule ,and increased the doe harvest several years ago. Some don't like it,but it did wonders for my area.I used to only see 4-5 bucks a year, now I see them on a regular basis.
