best 4 stroke sport quad?

what is it? im talking for woods riding. i want one that has all out power from when you hit it in 1st and when you hit it in 6th. i hear the new yamaha 450 is an unreal quad. what about the 400ex, warrior, z400 and others. if you got an 4 stroke sport lets see a pick of it and tell me about it. i wnat a woods rider :w00t:

The 400 ex is great and getting cheaper with the increased popularity of the new honda 450. The honda 450 is absolutely sick- rode one last weekend. Once the perf parts start flowing (and they already are starting), it'll be at the top for sure.

well lets see, i have rode a 99 400ex in the woods its ok, except no reverse on it, but the 400ex has reverse..(thats a plus for woods)..i have rode a 450r in the woods, no reverse, gearing no good for woods here in Tennessee. and i have rode the new 05 Z-400 in the woods, the price on the new 400ex and Z400 is the same, but the 05 Z has piggyback shocks, more comfortable, faster, and doesn't have borrowed plastics, so i bought me a Z-400.. :w00t:

i would say the best thing to do is to find people that has one of each you are interested in and ride them, the only one i didn't ride in the woods was a yfz450, but i did ride one through a field. its peppy. but don't go by what everyone else thinks is the best, go by what you feel is best after riding them.

400EX OK
Warrior Heavy pig and lacks the power you are looking for
Z400 OK
450 either would be so-so as they are more race designed
Rator would fit the bill, but a little top heavy

Most of the people I ride woods with have gone to raptors. They are not the best all around quad, but for trail/woods riding they are a nice deal. You get reverse, fairly comfy, gobs of big bore power. You can also find them a few years used for around $3-3.5K.

You need to clarify some things here first - Define "Sport Quad". The TRX450R, YFZ450 are really "Race" models, so I wouldn't lump them in with the "Sport" catagory. You could probably make a case for the Predator and new, upgraded Z400's being in the "Race" catagory as well. The best overall "Sport Quad" in my opinion would have to be the Raptor, especially if it has a good exhaust on it. Now that the 400EX has reverse, I'd have to say its up there, as well as the older model Z400, if you can keep the frames together.

I'd say the 400ex or the z400. I've ran the yfz and raptor hard in the woods and didn't like either one. I really didn't like the raptor. It's a classic bad geometry high power Yamaha(banshee). The best buy new is the z400 for reasons already stated. The best buy used is the 400ex. Reverse is overated, you can pick up a used 400ex cheap and they mod cheap too. Not to mention how reliable they are.
