I tore into my carb from the 85 200s, and it was dirty, but not too bad. You guys always say that the jets must be clean and you must see through them, but I have a question. The main jet (#100) was good after i cleaned it out and let it soak over night in the carb cleaner, but the pilot jet, I let it sit and i couldnt see light through it. Am I supposed to be able to see the light when I try to look through it?

Granted I already bought a carb rebuild kit (gaskets, screws, jets, washers, orings, needles, ect.) for 13 bucks. I am just curious wether or not you should be able to see/blow through that. It would make sense that you should be able to, because one end of the jet sits in the gas, and the gas gets sucked up by the air, and if its plugged, it gets no gas. Maybe thats why the bike never really idled well.

Please help a confused fool out.

Thanks,
Mike DiPasquale

you can use really small torch tip cleaners to clean the pilot....

I use a bread tie with the plastic stripped off of it.

ALso, In the clymers manual, it says the pilot/slow jet is not removable and is pressed in. THen how come could I remove it with a screwdriver? Maybe that was for the older 84 200s carb?
