OK, first of all, thanks to you guys that responded to my first post about the 84-85 Tecate "kick back"! ie..tecatecrazy, BigGreenMachine, NICKG, and aaakowalski!!! Now lets get to the bottom of this!!
I need all of you guys to post a response again. Also I need anyone that has a 84-85 Tecate to respond, Please, regardless if you have experienced the "kick back" or not!!!
I need to know if you have experienced the "kickback" or not?

And, if you have, please let me know if you are running high compression or not? Are you stock compression or not or don't know? And what fuel you are running(ie..half race/half pump, or all race, or all pump) also what fuel/oil ratio you are running and anything else that might help!!

Also if you have not experienced the "kick back" please let me know if you are running high compression or not? Are you stock compression or not or don't know? And what fuel you are running(ie..half race/half pump, or all race,or all pump) also what fuel/oil ratio you are running and anything else that might help!!

All 84-85 Teacte owners, please respond and give up as much info that you can so that we all can get to the bottom of this!!! I refuse to believe that this is just a "curse" that 84-85 Tecate's have. This machine never use to do this and I know that a guy at this site has a tecate also that has never experienced this! :Bounce :beer :beer :beer

Thanks in advanced to all that reply!!!!!

I don't ever remember one of my (84 and 86) KXTs having this "kick back". What mine are bad about sometimes was the kicker slipping. I parted my 84 out a couple years ago but I was running a DG pipe, 38mm Mikuni Flatslide, boyessen reeds and a stock cylinder/oem piston.

kickback is caused by preignition which is caused by bad timing. check your timing AND flywheel. i bet you have slipped time or have a loose magnet.

I have never had this problem with mine, I have a stock compression aftermarket piston, I always run premium pump gas with HP2 two stroke oil. I have always ran a 32:1 ratio.

I have always had kick back on my tecate. I have used both kxt and kx jugs on various bores. I am also running a pvl ignition that does not use the keyway and has no magnets to come loose. one thing that I am just now realizing is that I have not noticed it (doesnt mean it hasnt happened) since I installed a new oem head. :wondering
