Really? Which spot is your favorite riding spot? I lived in Salem area for few years. Know a few folks that can help you with that R.

So you been to dragstrip eh, cool place. Have you checked out the mall yet? They have a killer Moto shop. You should check into. When did you move to the area? Oh check out our ride in the rides forum..
On your reeds if indoubt I would just replace. The line you can grease so it moves more fluid. There is a simple tool out there that will help get the grease on the line itself.

You can spray carb-cleaner all over those reeds to clean. You should be able to wash, get wet, @ least 99% of your ATC to clean it. Heck 100% as long as you let it sit for a day or two to dry out electrical connections IMO. Degreaser for that swinger, but I've never painted one so... Degreaser + toothbrush anywhere you want to remove GOOK, well not on wires though. Then just hose rinse off, I wont pressure wash mine but some here do. :beer
As for that "crunch" in your rear suspension, could be ALLOT of things. Bushings /berrings come to mind first, worn out need replaced. Then again looks like an 82 model & that shock itself could be BEAT/DONE, but might be able to be rebuilt if your lucky. :(
take it to the car was start it up and pressure was it........just try and stay away from the electrical...you shouldnt have anyproblems....i alwasy leave my bike running when i pressure wash it ..,it also helps determin where you have leakes in your electrical system too! if it dies you can just use some wd-40 in the elctrical connetions to displace the moustiure, make sure your flywheel cover/seal is good and that it wont leak and your good to go really......some people hose there bikes down and scrub, but thats alot of extra unnessacary work if the bike is in the shape its supposed to be.. ;) as for the reeds, clean them off with brake/carb cleaner they look good still.....but you can alwasys throw a set of boysen reeds in there for extra mesure...heh :D :beer

its a 82 yes but has gun metal grey engine so i fink previous owner paintd it its not a crunch as such more like a click - thats not good if i haft 2 leave it a day! id like 2 ave a nice clean shiny trike!
wot colour is the 82 swing orignaly + bout the eletrical part the wires r near the gas tank correct? + how do i find out the flywheel cover is tight? is it on the right or left side casin

Your swinger should be red under that oily mes. ;)
As for leav'n it for a day after wash, thats just if you are really worried about the electrical geting wet. I hose mine down, spray'n everywhere & right on the wiring, then start it up after towel dry'n with no probs. To find the "click" you'd have to have a good ear for pin pointing. Most likely you'll have to take some part of the suspension apart to find the culprit.
The reeds do not look good to me. Take off the intake boot, hold the reed cage to the light, look through them from the intake side. If you see twisting or uneven gaps they are no good. I have a Kawi T3 manual here (no Z manual) it says that the gap should be under 0.2mm. I have flipped reeds over in the cage to let me ride till I buy a new set, I have also ran the bottom reeds on the top to let gravity help a little. Reeds are pretty cheep get a good new set if you have any doubts.

blast all of it with carb cleaner, use a parts brush with the swingarm and blow the carb parts with an air gun....the only way to tell if yur reeds are in good shape is by pulling the reeds off....pull them off and see if the edges of them have started to recess on the inside edge of the cage itself, and look for any cracking or missing sections of reed....this is only is they are fiberglass or carbon, if they are stainless i dont think they will ever go bad....

Hmmm... Is your intake boot cracked? Looks like some uneven flow patterns in there. :wondering
Heck... easiest way I've cleaned my R up was buying parts on ebay from Arizona! :naughty: From what I gather from Huffa's thread, the sand doesn't age them like mud. hahahaa :naughty:
I got the rims and axle spacers form Arizona or Cali and also have spare shock, swinger, and forks form Zona. Oh... got the OEM exhaust pipe thats in the later pic from there too. Seller was like "JustmeinAZ" or somethin like that that I got most parts from.
