It's not my fault. I was raised a heathen.

Good bet I'll be there this weekend, evening of the 18th thru Sun 20th, but that is all for now! :D that I'm going soon, however, that I doubtfully will be there EASTER.
Buggy flats, Look for the "SpaceBalls" replica Winnabego! :beer

I won't be able to make it. Company policy is you can't request holidays off and they are starting to be nazis about it. I was the last to get a holiday off with presidents day. A friend reguested the 4th of July off 3 MONTHS in advance and they said no. Hopefully next year I will have a new job and this won't be a problem.
But I have allready reuqested April 8-10 off for my last trip. Sorry Im gonna miss out.
Edit: Just looked at a calendar and I need to request days off 2 weeks in advance. So the last day I could have requested that off was Sun the 13th

How do I find the buggy flats?
mymint87
03-18-2005, 08:18 PM
Buggy Flats is located on the north side of the huge earthen canal which runs parallel to Hwy 8.
so it would be
Gordons Well offramp....stop sign...proceed north... prox 2/300 ft come to a tee in the road...stop sign...proceed east follow road for half a mile...cross concrete canal.... your now in buggy flats

Cool. Hope to see you there. I drive a pewter colored 2003 S-10 Chevy with a little FMF sticker in the rear window by the way. You'd probably see the R long before the truck though. :D

Just got back yesterday, & it was GREAT to say the least! :beer
Small crowd overall @ GW, but Buttercup was packed. Sand drags going strong Fri Sat, with the fastest buggies I've seen yet (KAOS & RENTAL, if ya know them). KAOS was @ TEST @ night and starting from the canal & just LAUNCHING over the whoops section full speed almost coasting up the hill!!! :w00t:
There was a helecopter @ GW all weekend too!?!? Never seen that before. He would buzz over the dunes only about 30 ft above us. Then go land in the flats @ his camp. I think they were filming for something, hope they caught me doing that "superman seat grab" off the top of Patton valley! What a way to go, have someone else drive your $ 1/4 Million Deisel-pusher up there with all your toys. Then fly in @ your own leasure to use your stuff! :naughty:
Overall I rode 75 miles in 2 days of riding, one guy had an odometer on his dirt bike. Man I gotta figure a way to get back there this weekend....

i seen the same group when i was there for twistfest (weekend after pres day)
we first seen him buzzing the dunes (bout 30 feet off the deck) when we were @ pattons on a ride...then we freaked when we seen it at camp...were not talking 2 seater either, fricken thing can hold six, probably 250,000 a year just in maintenance and up keep on that pup.
AZ250R,
try and slice it so you can be there weekend after easter. Duner in my camp cracked a head on his scud so we're all bumping it back a week as to not leave him out....
FREAKEN LAUNCHING AT TEST and coasting????...sounds like a bad buggy :w00t:
i actually can picture that in my mind with your discription..makes me froth at the mouth.....hehe
MEMO TO AZ250R:
My 350x has wood loaded on the cooler rack and i got gas in an empty water bottle...can you say "NIGHT RIDE TO TEST".....
it's sounds like it's drying up out there...so it wasn't choppy or damp?
Arizona dunetwister has got me in tunnelvision mode with his report on conditions.... THANKS AZ250R
IM THERE DUNETWISTER, who else is going?? :beer
BTW, we'll have a good fireworks display, a duner is bringing 400lbs of explosives, he sets em up on 2 plywood sheets and wires them with one continuos fuse.........hehe
...we're talking ...phoo.phoo.phoo.phoo.phoo.phoo.phoo.phoo.phoo.ph oo.phoomph continuosly for about 20 mins...duners a freak about it, spends about 6"g's" a year on that hobby of his(and he always gets 2 for 1 at that price) so were talking 12"g's" worth of explosives....don't be smoking around his box either, WHEW! and remind me to park on the opposite side of the circle from his crazey butt ....every campsite around gives him major props on his shows..truley done on a professional level :beer

I'm still planning to go. Will only be for a few hours on Sunday but should be worth it. Trying to find some new fork boots first (mine are one size too small and grab the forks a bit).
What are you going to be driving so I know what to look for?

The sand was almost perfect. Sat night through last Sunday was quite windy, but made for loads of "untracked bowls". I'm sure this week its just get'n torn up though, but by the first weekend in April... I gotta go, I'll post when I find out. :beer

I'm S.O.L. this weekend, "Spaceballs" is down for some cooling issues.
So Dammit ya ought to get ahold of me to use the pass.
Theres a good posibility you wouldn't need it anyway. 2 weeks ago there was nobody checking on Sunday when we were leaving.
I'll be down in Chandler all weekend during the day. Saturday evening I could be coming right up the 101 to go home too, so that could be a tradeoff point somewhere. Let me know...

the scuds are loaded and ready to roll...5 trikes and 2 trikes with training wheels...DUNES, DUNES AND MORE DUNES......
my friend is meeting us out there, he's from Tye, Texas and he represents that state well,
his scuds packing a 85 350x and a 87 200x for his wife..last time out he spanked me hard. we had a rip roaring roostfest and the cowboy had this duner covered in sand.
taught me to watch were i pause while riding cause the goat roper kept coming up in my rear view mirror and roosting my butt while laughing so hard he fell off his own stallion..
this dunetwister says payback time....hehe
i'll post pics when i return.....GORDONS WELL RULES THE WORLD

i think merriman is bumping out this weekend...
I sorry I wont be there
Buttercup is radical, bigger dunes than @ Gordons...not to mention you park and your right next to Dunes :w00t:
last weekend the vendors were out @ buttercup but several of them told me there shutting down for the season...also last week was Pair-a-dice's last weekend also...
bring shade and plent-o-fluids... duh...you know that, i dont know why Im telling a duner like yourself that ....duh
me and merriman are talking about a day run in the next couple-o-weeks...were going to scope out a place for a trike meet.....maybe Olgiby :wondering
sadly enough i think us southwest dunetwisters need to reload and SERIOUSLY think about next year....I have a feeling next season will be THE TSUNAMI TRIKE CRUSH for us southwest duners.....
anyway have fun out there and its becoming more clear to me that i may have to wait for next season to meet your 4th gear WOT flying arse....bummer for me
btw snap a pic er two for me huh?...
i'm jealous, your duning and I'M NOT

I think that Buttercup has the "tightest, steep edjed bowls", and most witches eyes of them all. Making for the most "technical" riding of the 3 areas, in a sense... Its definately got the quickest trip to a "competition hill" area, thus for a short 2 day trip with kid-os makes for a good time for all.
Lately, I'm like'n the 2 smaller valley areas south of Patton, but that's just me. :D

Got back yesterday from Gordins Well (buggie flats area). Way windy Fri Sat, more so that I can almost handle. The canopy flew off of poor Spaceballs @ 11pm Friday only 1 mile from the GW turnoff!?!?! Was a strange situation having that thing flapp'n from the rig going 60mph in a sand storm. We stoped & cut it all the way off, hell its a 1985 Wienerbagle so the things due for a few upgrades anyway...
Killer ride'n late Saturday & Sunday though, good drags then hill action @ night even! But its gonna just get darn hot from here on out so I'm think'n thats it for this season... But heres one last image of me Trike'n off into the sunset....

so where are we riding at for the group trip next season. I really think you guys should try Ogilby. I'll show up and lead every ride. I'll even take you guys on a super fast ride if you dare. we ride the same dunes as Gordons, but there are some smaller ones for the kids, and it makes a great MX track too!!!!
I'll bring the YFZ450 for the super fast ride. ;)
