what is a good non-bending (not bent easily) metal for me to make a skidplate out of??? steel is kind of heavy, but im thinking of that, aluminum doesnt seem strong enough for me.

Go with 1/4" aluminum. You aren't going to hurt that!

Once on a old quad I used a piece of a cutting board, the white plastic ones.
It was about 1/2" thick and is easily drillable and you can trim it to shape. I never broke it, their Extremely strong and slightly flexable and slide over about anything.
I know it sounds silly nut it works and is very cheap.

HUH? I've seen guys use diamond plate already. Fairly inexpensive and looks good.

I stumbled on this the other day. They don't make for ATC's but was quite interesting.

Now if you could get a healthy group buy from so many 3WW members and the plate you need is quite simple they just might make a batch up.
1'4" aluminum, like mentioned above is a very good set up.
oneshots idea don't sound bad either.
