i have been thinking about getting some sort of pack to hold some food and a tire plug kit and phone. and a waterbottle or two. anyone have any reccomendations?
i was leaning towards a fanny pack as a backpack i think will be too bulky and shift a lot but before spending 50-60 bucks to findout i don't even like it i wanted some opinions.
i was looking for something at least water resistant if not water proof.

You may want to considering something like this.

Not too bulky, carries tools and has the water bladder. The chest strap helps keep it from moving around as bad. My buddy uses on on long rides and likes his.
Dammit!

You can wrap a fanny pack around your handle bars like I do.
Just do it (http://members.cox.net/qwikstop/9.jpg).

I always wear a back pack - I think it stems from the fact that, for most of my riding adventures, I've always ridden with sport ATV's and nobody ever had "Racks" or storage.

I always were a backpack when riding. Tools, spare plug, rain gear, maybe a couple candybars, cell phone and some spare money. Never can be overprepared. Ziplock bags help keep things dry.

Backpack here. Keep a few select tools, screwdrivers (flat, philips) Cresent Wrench, sparkplug/wrench some wire and snips and of course tire plugs and a small bike pump. Oh ya, a nylon tow rope...never know when you or your buddy may need a yank back home. It doesn't weigh much and once you are used to it, can't even tell its there. When we have a bigger group, usually there is a Utility machine with us, so it gets strapped to him/her machine. Better to be prepared. I just got a cheap-O from walmart.....Look for the dark colored ones, and try to find the smallest one ya can...that is kinda hard now-a-days....they make em REAL big now.

I crash way to often to wear a backpack (I would end up stabbing myself with a screw driver).
I bought a cheap $5.99 fanny pack at Wal Mart and keep it attached to my machine. hen I had the R I kept I kept it wrapped under the head light. With my Banshee it was wrapped around the grab bar.

I have a backpack. I like to carry a qt of spare gas. a wrench, screwdriver, digital camera of some sort, 2 way radio, MRE'S, and maybe a beer or a 32 oz water to wash it down (especially the crackers). Where I go, a cell phone would be useless. Like I want to be found--Not!
