Hey guys! I am fixing up my old ATC 200 and the plastic is in rough shape...no cracks or anything just really faded and pitted. I really don't want to sand and sand and sand...well you get the picture to get them looking OK again so I plan on painting them. Wanted to know if anyone else has had luck with this and maybe see some pictures. This bike will be a rider so any tips on what paint to use to make it last a little would also be appriciated. Also I don't know if I want to stay red...I really would like a less bright colour (I know it's not the original look) so any pictures of different colours would also be welcome as well as opinions on the colour change. Thanks.
Mark.

I'm really not a big fan of painting fenders. Tried it a few years back and it ends up scrathing and peeling off. Nowadays, I see Krylon making a paint specifically for plastic. It's supposed to bond to it or something. I think it would have to do with flexability of the paint once it's dried. i have never tried the new stuff.

Just got my new Honda plastic rear fenders today...man they look good...put the Harlan decals on right away too...I sanded and polished the ever loving billy sht. out of the old ones and they look good...but not this good.

Tell you what,if you want to paint plastic ask "green lighting" that guy knows how to paint!!!!!! And what ever you do don't use a "poof can"! If you want a good looking job ask him how or send your plastic to him and when you get it back you will not even be able to handle it!!!! :beer

My opinion is don't waste your time. I found Krylon looks aweful, especially not prepped well, which means, sanding, sanding and sanding. You could have it professionally done, but by that time, you spend the same amount on what new fenders would cost at maeir.

I'm sanding my mudgards now, but very tempted to try that black vinyl spray even if these had to be redone every year the paint will fill some of the gouges and look better.
