what type of muffler will make a 4 banger loud?

i have a 2.2L in my s10 and i want to change the muffler so it is loud.
I dont want anything expensive, just something cheap i can get from a parts store.

Take a torch, cut a hole in the stocker, cut out the baffles in it, weld the outside piece back on. Whalla a street legal looking straight pipe pretty much.

Take the muffler off, or get exuast cut outs. That is what I am doing with my mustang.

I thrive for loudness, I reliaze the cops will be an issue but dont really care, my Dad had an unmuffled 410 mercury motor, hear it a mile away, I loved it. In my book the louder the better. Glass packs dont cut it for me.

I dont have any problem with it being loud myself as long as it sounds worth a crap. (And fart pipes dont) Heck my truck is probably louder then 99% of the stuff on the highway, but it has a nice clean enjoyable sound (To me anyways :D). It was fun going to haspin towing the trailer behind me and then going under an overpass and hearing the sound bounce back to you and watch people in other cars turn their heads wondering what the heck was going on :)

I've heard a Flowmaster 40 acutally sound pretty decent on an s-10 but was the smaller V6 though. I run just a cat on my larger I6 and it sounds a bit like a tractor. Plan to gut the cat and go Magnaflow...

What is a fart pipe? sounds fun whatever it is!!! I guess you guys don't have emmision tests down there in Louisiana. They just started that stuff up here in Pa. and it's a pain in the rear. You have to run a catalytic converter to pass.

A fart pipe is one of those massive 3+" diameter mellon cannon mufflers that ricers put on their lawnmowers.

If a police officer thinks its too loud, then its too loud. It really doesn't matter if you've got a muffler on it or not. What do you think an officer would say? Excuse me sir, your car is too loud. I'll have to write you a ticket. Reply: Well gee officer I have a DOT approved muffler on my automobile sir. Action: watch as officer wets himself while lauging histerically. Just run a straight pipe from the converter back.

gibson sounds really good on s-10s and yotas, yah four bangers ant big blocks but with the right stuff they can run with the big boys and get better gas mileage freind ahs a 96 yota with the 2.4 liter 4 with a trd supercharger and trd header back exhaust * want to see a 4 cylinder that runs he beats broncos, F150s and the actional chevy

Sorry, but that is what your engine is. Deal with it. It may sound mean with no exhaust, but its still a pu$$y. Better to have a quiet pu$$y than a loud one.

My roomemate has an acura integra with the loudest pipe i've ever heard... what a frickin pissoff at 3am when he comes home drunk !... the whole neighborhood looks at me with hate.. for his noise !!!!

Let me tell you from personal experience. My ranger has a 2.3 in it and about 3 days after I bought it the muffler just dropped right off of it. SO I grabbed the glasspack I had in the barn welded up a reducer and put her on. It has been on since november. I am sick and tired of it!! It sounds like crap. I didn't expect to have it sound good but the exhuat pipe broke about 6 inches behind the cat and the rest of it went with it. If you want something that sounds better than a uncorked 4 cyl. come to trikefest and look for the 85 f-250. The old 460 makes some racket. Its not annoyingly loud but still has a good rumble to it with the exhaust the way it is and the RV cam. Wait I wont be able to afford to drive it there because it already gets like 8 mpg without pulling a trailor loaded down with stuff!
