If anyone out there has the book to the ATC 90 I would like to know the proper way to time the ATC90 and I still have the no spark problem but i would like to know if my timing being far off or the factor of having teh points not set quite right or even having a bum coil(I have eliminated the posibility of it being a condencer because i picked one up today and replaced that. So if any one can help me with the info I need it would be greatly appreciated.
Here ya go.
Oh, sorry about the large size, probably should have halved the image once more, anyway, should be easy to read!! <p>

Ok now that I know how to do the ignition timing I ran into a new problem. It says that when the mark for fireing on the flywheel is allined with the mark on the stator, the points should be open at this time, well that is not so at all in my case. The points plate is allined with its mark with the mark on the head and the points have a gap of 14 thousanths. With all this said when the flywheel marking and the stator marking are allined the lobe that opens the points is on the other side of where it should be at the time. I dont believe I am 180 out to the best of my knowledge, because I am sucking air in the intake and blowing it out the exhause just fine. so if it is possible to be off any other way it must be in my mechanical (cam) timing. So if any one out there would like to contribute the info on how to set the mechanical timing that also would be greatly appreciated.

Ok not to be a pest but if possible I need the mechanical timing info very very quickly. live in a place with grouchy neighbors and dont feel like fireing this thing up this late and getting yelled at

If your lobe to open points is across from where it should be you are out 180 degrees. Are you not? Go one more revoltion on crank. to check mechanical timing take crank to "t" mark and check v/v rockers they should be loose at top dead centre. then go back to "f " and points should be open.
OK
here is a scan from my ATC110 service manual, it shows it better than the clymer book 'cos its from Honda, should work the same as the ATC90, just take into account the 110 has a sight window in the side case to line up the "T" mark whereas the atc90 is on the front of the flywheel. apart from that it should help you fine.

thanks for the info but I still have one question, I dont have any type of marking on my cam as to how to aline it with the mark that I do have on the head? This was a problem I ran into a while back when adjustin the mechanical timing but dont happen to remember what I was supposed to go by so if you know that please dont refrain form telling me. LOL

Alright sry bout that I have found it and yes it is an "O" on my cam, it was almost totaly under the piece of the cam that connects to the sprocket. LOL woops

Not on my 90. It is about a 1/16 of an inch under the tooth on mine. And yes that must be it because acording to that marking I am 180 out (sigh of relief) I though something may have been seriuosly wrong. Although I felt suction on the intake and pressure out on the exhaust I still was getting 0 fuel to my spark plug and pulled till I was blue in the face. But I guess I wasnt quite feeling the right suction and blowing action I should have been.

OK man I am frustrated out of my freaking mind. I have found that a very stupid eror is keeping my trike from running and will for quite some time I predict. I have found that the orighinal owner or this trike was very mean to her. I being stupid just went with it just wanting to hear her pur again so of course I didnt change any of the hammer jockie things done to her. I found a screw instead of a bolt put into the cam sprocket and just of greed of a good ride again I locktighted and cramed the (right size though) screw back where it came from and now later on down the road one little screw is keeping me from taking her on one more ride at the least. I blame my greed of the next ride for my neglegence to my 90. I shall never feel the same again.
sincerly the trike abuser

YES!!!!!!!!! frown no more for me. I have taken a 9mm socket and a hammer and in a sence cold pressed the screw into a very rough and nasty looking 9mm hex head and yup you guessed it, with the 3/8 ratchet as my aid in the excitment the disfigured screw (pest at the moment) has been sucessfully removed. Hows that for keepin up to date

well more for the updates, still not running, has more problems than ever now. Lets see first of all I got it back in timing (not 180 out anymore), then jumping to the gun a bit put a bolt back in fine and dandy but the second however snaped into inside the hole and well that sucks, I though I could just say screw it and run it but no I found, thats right another problem, the markings were off by about 2 teeth on the sprocket so I figured well I have to take that bolt out anyways right so what the heck so now I have one cam sprocket with a bolt snaped off in it, it is now way out of time, and for the main thing it still does not run (go figure right LOL). well that is it for the update. if I get anything else I will let all you know (that is all that really care).

Well now I have a new question. Just exactly how involved is it to take off the bottom end cover (the piece with the high-low switch nad high-low switch cover attatched to it. It is also the side with the pull starter attatched to it). Well if I could get some help with that I will be able to get it running again.
Thanks

I need to know one last thing and my trike should be running for good. I want to know EVERY little tiny adjustment possible for the ATC90 carb. This would be greatly appreciated. I need thins info due to my even newer problem. I can get it to start but I cant get it to run. It starts and kicks over a good 10 times or so and then floods out like crazy it is like just pouring it strait from teh can into the spark plug hole once the motor gets some suction built up. considering that I didnt change anypart of the motor I can only think the problem is in teh carb. Thanks

Well it runs. I have found a definate power increase by porting it out. oh and the carb problem was simple, soap and water clean-out dosent do well in a carb. The carb was all gummed up and the float needle was keeping the floats pushed down and it just flooded the motor instantly, but it is fixed now. I got a partially new idea now. I am goin to take the other 90 I got and bore it as far over as possible, shave the head and jug as much as possible, jet up the carb, port the head, change the sprockets on the frame, just ton of stuff. Well that shall be my next toy i will keep up to date I suppose on its well being. lol
