Well first off, welcom to the board! :welcome:
Second there are tons of NY guys here on the forum that have trikes so I am sure you could get with them to assist you in getting the info you need. And third, this is a 3 wheeler forum so our opinions might be alittle bias! haha Good luck on your search............peace

Welcome!! You can still regester and insure a trike in NY but that doesn't make it much easier to find a public place to ride.

i'm south of buffalo by East Aurora and there are some trails out by me. Lately, alot of the trikers i know have been going to a park in PA. To answer your question, yes you should buy one!

Call me old fashioned but I say Freak the Police. :o
I dont register anything in NY because they dont give us a place to ride. As for Registration, its tough for these old bikes and because of the age you might not need one. Getting insurance is a good idea I guess. If you want to go to an ATV Park you might need a registration but there are plenty of Trails here in NY to keep you busy. I have been riding the Railbed along Onedia Lake for years and only see cops on it in the winter due to Snowmobiles that go 200 mph and have a drunk flappin in the wind behind it :naughty:
Ive had 2 cops compliment me on my Trike while dialing it in on my Dead end road. They like to park and chill out at the end. Remember most Cops are guys in our age group and probably grew up on Trikes. As long as your machine is not to loud and your not riding foolish you should have no problem.
If you need a place to ride there are alot of NY guys here that got places to ride, and will share the location. :beer

Got about 250 acres in "God's country".... let's ride! My Showgirl 350X has tags and so will my 82 250R. However, I do not hav einsurance on them. There are a number of private places to ride and even some organized rides that allow trikes. YTZ250R#1 (steve) and I went to a dice run South of Salamanca NY and they didn't make you have ins or reg. I heard a rumor too that if you are part of a organized group, such as NYTRO or such, that some places that only allow 4 wheelers will let the 3 wheelers in because the riding group insurance covers them. Not sure if that's still the case. I agree, that registration for 3 wheelers is a fraud, cause NY says that the $$$ goes to TrailPass which disallows ATC's. When they finally push for registrations to go from $10 to $65-75 a year, it will be the last time I put a current sticker on my plate. To me, I'd rather have my plates on my nice trikes at least... if I was a thief, I'd take one without reg/tags before taking one that has a current registration. I like knowing that the frame is registered and the numbers are filed at Albany just incase the Showgirl and the 82R go MIA.
