TIGER PROJECT!! The SECRET is OUT... An awesome addition to my DREAM collection.

When I first visited this site and saw the TIGER page I thought I would never have the opportunity to EVER own one these old school racers let alone find one 1 hour away from my home, Thanks MBG75 for lettin go of it and others for the INFO. Just goes to show you with patience, persistence, and of course a forkin out some $Onions you CAN still get your hands on some of this stuff.

I was keeping this project low key but its moving along quickly (VERY QUICKLY maybe done about the same time as the T3) I have chatted with some people for info so the secret is out. This bike is basically complete with an exception of a flat metal front caliper mounting plate that can be fabricated very easily and front axle which wont be to hard with some suggestions I 've already received.

The special things about this bike is its overall condition and completeness. It was the result of some hard work and research by its previous owner who compiled parts from several bikes from around the country. Its got a 200 cc engine but I'm going with a 250cc cylinder so it matches my other big boys. Also I cant rip those original 250cc decals off It would kill me!!!

Plastics- All original PVC type front fender and rear in over all good condition with some minor splitting all of which is being professionally fixed. ORIGINAL warning decal on it. Because of its PVC type (solid color all they way thru) I am going to try to wet sand and plastic renew the original material to hold its value and it be original. If it doesnt look good I will then have it professionally sprayed

Original Shroud ---PERFECT being sprayed

need an original # plate but the one I have will do for now.

Tank GREAT Shape

Axle/Hubs - Look at the pic!!- When I polished with metal polish they cleaned up and were in better condition than any of my other bikes. They were NOT sprayed or wire wheeled. Original Zinc coating on the hubs and you can see the original lines in the metal of the axle. I didn't believe it when it was pointed out to me the good condition of the axle /hubs when I was purchasing it but all the black spots on the axle were just petrified grease. You were right they cleaned up awesome. I never felt grease that hardened before.

The pipe is BRAND NEW not sprayed and never been mounted on a tiger. He found this by researching the original company who made these for TIGER and guess what They had ONE left in storage for 20 years. Is that Luck or what

Well its stripped and ready to be dropped off for powder. The foot pegs shifter have already been done. I decided to polish the front forks. Already polished the front wheel. And wait to you see the rear wheel tire combo I picked out (KILLER).

welcome to the club! :)

Thanks , Worked on the Tiger all day today since i'm waiting on my powdercoater to finish the T3 frame. There not many pieces to these Tigers-- I have like half the little parts in a pile compared to the T3. Only three items to be powdercoated blue Frame, swinger, carrier, :Bounce

Where did you find him/her? Did it try to bite you when you reached for it?

It actually bit me today. When the rubber mallet smashed my thumb removing all of the components from the axle carrier. You can never tame the beast!!!

dude, you guys.......that pipe looks a lot like mine....the funny thing is, the mounts and spring hooks could easily be changed and the stinger part of my pipe is kinked like someone heated up and bent a straight pipe to fit the 250r.... also, where the head pipe meets the expansion part is in 3 sections like the tiger pipe too, its hard to see with all the surface rust there...

The tiger pipe has JEMCO stamped in it. Even FMF used to make the pipes with the cones until they stream lined their production.

just to let you know, the number plate is identical to the original! got rid of the original plate with the other tiger parts. had #15 on it.

also before you get rid of the cylinder, it was race ported, so probably making more power than a stock 250.

Thanks for reminding me. I definetly didn't plan on getting rid of the cylinder but since you reminded I may look for another decent engine. I still plan of treasure hunting for tiger stuff with a 50 mile radius of the old flat track by my house. Someone around here has one of these babies sittin in their yard, garage, or shed. Some people cant read. I 've put wanted posters up for TIGERS and people are calling me for a three wheeler for SALE

I love the Maier number plate. Did tigers put some Maier plates on their bikes. The one i have on my Tiger Ad is a thick fiberglass one. THANKS again mbg75
