Will a brake system of an 86 200x work on an 83-85?

I have an 85' and saw a front brake for an 86' on ebay a while back. I emailed the guy and asked if it would fit. He told me no. Something about it used a longer brake hose and diffrent mounting points on the caliper bracket. I never researched it further.

86/87 200x stuff just does not work on a 83/85. They are completly different machines.
