I have been noticing a little yamaha ATC out in the corner of a yard for a couple of weeks. Grass was growing up around it and things were looking grim for the little guy. Well I decided that it was time to stop and see if it could be bought. Well my first impression was that this was going to be a machine is really bad shape due to what was being done with it. Well, after talking to the man that owned it and coming to an agreement I left to go get some cash and when I came back he had it up in the drive and told me, I aired the tires up and put some gas in it for you (although i wasnt sure why, i figured the worst for it considering what had been done with it)... I told him thanks and it was a pleasure doing bussiness, threw in the back of the truck and left. The reason that it was "put out to pasture was that his son didnt ride it anymore and the recoil rope was pulled out. Well, I snatched the one off of a YT175 that I have gave it 2 good pulls and it was running like a new one!! Its in really good shape so I am really happy thatI got to it when i did, otherwise things could have been much worse for this one...

Why is it I find junk in the bushes and you find gold?
That thing looks great. I hope my resto comes out that good. The more I mess with these little YT's the more I like them.

The weather out ther must be more gorgiving than it is here. it does not take long for trike to turn to crap just sitting in the Florida sun.

Lonesometriz- This defaintly caught me off gaurd, I was actually expecting junk so I got really lucky here
Meatbox- I gave 210 dollars for it + the 2 trips in gas come out to about 230-240. I would make bigger pics but I have no idea how to do so.
Lonesometriz- The weather here sucks as well. I dont firgure it had been setting there more than a couple of months, before that I noticed the guy had a garage so i figure it used to set in there.

Well, went home last night and got a phone call, man I finally got it for you is what they said, I wasnt sure what they were talking about but they said they would be over in a few minutes. It was another YT125!! This one looks damm sad, all painted up and flat tires, truley went downhill fast since the first time that I had seen it a few months ago. Still runs fairly well though, Only gave 50 bucks for this one. So, I guess, another one saved!!

At least it is in caring hands now. What are your plans with these new additions to the family?

Well, the one that I picked up saturday, already has had the recoil starter fixed, and I need to order some bearings for the front end of it,replace the shifting linkage, clean it up, and give it the garage treatment it deserves and take it out on occasion, (i'll prolly do a restoration at a later date as I already have my hands full). The one from last night, its too soon to tell, I know that it will run, but thats it, I dont know much else about it. There are various parts that both of them need that I hate to say, but, the YT175 has so I will prolly be doing some swaping of parts there.

Oh also, I really have no intentions of killing the 125 from last night, that machine has the will to live, I know that it has been run on straight gas more than once, It looks like hell, has never been taken care of, and has 10-30 motor oil in the gas right now and it still runs. So, hats off to that little guy, There will always be a spot for it either at my home or at yours Im sure.

Sacrifice a few to save many. I hate to hear of any trike getting parted. but sometimes I guess it is unavoidable.

the first one i would say is a 1980 it doesn't have but one vent on either side and no shroud around the headlight. It sure looks alot better than my 125s mine are laying in the barn in peices in resto

that one is definatly a 82 or later notice the extra vents on the side and the headlight shroud. Thats a cool rack never seen a front one a 125 before.

Thanks for the input rustbucket, Yamaha doesnt seem to use the same VIN number as a honda so I havent figured out how to read it for the year model yet. If thats even possible

All i know is those extra vents were started in 82 seems like the channged the chain size or something on the later trikes. is it possible to get some dimensions and maybe a close up of that rack so i can make one for mine.
