I have found they are nice in northern WI winter, so as you are from Manitoba I think you would like them. To me it almost seems as though, the grips become firmer when installed. I have no experience in using them in sport riding, but when I plow with the boss's quad they do a good job. We have not had a problem draing batteries, and the set he got from Dennis Kirk a couple years back do get nice and toasty, but the ones on my Aunts ski-doo Touring E get alot warmer..almost hot.

Not sure about trikes, but the heated grips on my snowmoble work without a battery. There is no battery on the machine. They get too hot at times. Wouldn`t go without them now. :) You will need one for the grips and one for the thumb throttle.

yeah...all the cats work right off the stator...and if you have them on the hot setting plus riding about 90-100 across lakes you have to turn them off!

Lots of times when I've been riding snowmachines, those grips will get rather hot. sometimes hot enough to start melting the insulation inside of gloves. Not a big problem except you're gloves won't work as well when you're not riding and may leave your hands cold. I have noticed that they do get hotter the faster and longer you ride.
I will probably get a set form a snowmachine to use on my 200x project, and wire in a simple on/off switch so that I can turn them off when I don't need them on.
