Hey okay engine on my 200x well is dead, i called a couple places rebuild isnt that cheap i could practically buy a whole new bike so, i was wondering what about 200 engines for 4 stroke ATC so i dont have to mess with the kickstarter will fit into a 85 200x frame with little to no fabrication or even 2 stroke motor cause my idea is to buy a crap bike with a good motor or just buy a plain motor off ebay and put it in which would be cheaper than rebuild any info would be appreciated thanks

.... did you ever think about rebuilding it yourself?. If you get a good manual, have a little self confidence and can follow directions, you'll see that its not that hard at all. Whats wrong with it?.

...is you don't know what your going to get. It may say runs good, may say needs nothing...may say doesn't smoke....but its still used and more than like has 20years worth of run time. My thoughts on any used engine is don't buy one expecting to bolt in and go. The only bolt in and go engine is a brand new engine. Any used engine your just asking for trouble. Rebuild you engine man. and don't go by what the local shop tells you. They're price is going to be all labor and parts mark up. You can get all the parts to doa full top end rebuild on your 200x for $250 on ebay. Now you might argue that you can buy a used engine for that much...but hey...you may need to rebuild that used engine in about 2 months.... The only thing that really makes buying used engine a viable purchase is: A. You don't have an engine to start with....or B. Your threw a rod/hit a rock/ has major case damage.....and even case damage can be cheaply repaired by a good machine shop. Amazing what a good tig welder and a paitient hand with a pen grinder can do.

Id strongly question anybody who has giving you a price on "rebuilding a motor" if they havent torn it down to see what it actually needs. Personally, I think the word "rebuild" should be banned because its about as vague as "quit" "fix" or "dont run". "Rebuild" can bean anything from new rings or a couple bearings to a crank job and a new top end, ranging from $25 and an hour labor to several hundred dollars, and several hours labor. If somebody doesnt have the mechanical ability to tear down and evaluate their existing motor, I would recommend against them trying to do a motor transplant which requires more knowledge and skill.
