I'd like to see you try to buy stock decals for that price. Each shroud decal from honda is $25, now compare the cost. Some of you trike guys are so CHEAP, and you guys wonder why nobody wants to make parts for us. Do you guys have any idea how much it costs to make stuff, I went to three places and they wanted $80+ to make replica decals for my atc250r, of course they are modified to have 310pvr on them. I have yet to decide to do it yet, mostly because I don't have good rear fender decals to copy.

i had my first set of TIGER decals made by a company for $50, for the decals..and $40 for each additional set.. was 5 pieces.. but that was the only ones i had made..

ill second what deathman says, custom work is expensive. we shoulld be happy that they are only 80 bucks. you cant get most of the decals anymore. think about it, its about 6 bucks a decal. im sure when they were new that the rear fender decals were more like 30 or 40 a piece. you can compare that to snowmobiles. i was looking at getting all new decals for my firecat, to just replace the big ones and the smaller accents, no warning ones, no informational ones, just the cosmetic ones, it was gonna be like 250 bucks. If you ask me i think its a deal

I spent a day in the shop with Jared. I saw first hand his work

Heres the difference:

Its easy to scan in a rough image and type in a font similar to the originals with available fonts but not exact.

Many of these bikes have custom lettering in there decals not reproducible by available fonts.

He scans them in --auto traces and connects the vectors so each image is exact. I have a extra set of tecate stuff I bought from someone else and other tiger decals. There is no comparison. Custom work is very time consuming and this machine is the latest technology available. I was there over 10 hours to work on two sets which didnt even get finished that night.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions and I respect that but heres mine:

I spent $50 to fill up my durango with gas yesterday
Dinner out with my girlfriend can run $60 bucks on a cheap date.

To get the closest set of decals for these machines available that no one has ever done before and is major improvements over the one done in the past is an accomplishment in itself.

$70 - $ 80 bucks for all those decals in the TRI Z set is a bargain -He's entitled to make a living also isnt he?

That tecate set is priced only a couple more bucks than the other guy gets for just the 2 shroud decals and Jared has decals in that kit never reproduced before!

PRICEY!!! Thats just crazy

Keep up the good work JARED ---Theres many who appreciate the fine custom work you do. In every crowd theres a few who you cant make happy no matter what you do.

I just bought some 86 OEM ATC250R shroud decals from Service Honda for $15 ea. !

Sorry man, couldn't resist! :p

Hey Tunes or Jared (Yamatopdog) !!!!!!

Did you get the issue resolved where the green wasn't matching?

Also, on the 86 shroud decals, did you get the darker band around the outside of the dark blue stripe? Take a close, close look at the 86 factory original decals and tell me what you think about that.

And Thanks for your hard work! Jared, what you've done with all those decals is impressive. In my opinion, you've earned your money.

Everyone may soon learn (as I did) that Jared Tri Z decals don't hold up very well at all. After 1 ride and putting some cleaner on one of mine the color bled right off.

I need to talk to him about a better ink or laminating them with clear plastic. Word will travel fast when an $80 set of decals does not even last 1 ride.

I think he can fix the issue but it is dissappointing to say the least!

You peaked my curiosity --I just went in the back because I had an extra tiger decal that I'm not sure if we laminated or not because it got damaged when we were cutting but I kept it anyway.

I just sprayed WD 40, wiped paint thinner on it, and then gasoline and I got no bleeding or scratching still looks new so I'll ask him what may have happened with yours???

First I guess I need to apologize, for the obvious dissapointment I have caused for many here

Darius.... you should have called me man!?? I know you have my number because you called me already, I would have taken care of the issue for you, and with all due respect...... I wish you would have before you kinda put down my work on the board without contacting me first?, plus i sent you the kit for free man!!?? You didnt pay a dime for it... I have to admit im a little hurt.....

Did you tell the board how you emailed me and told me how great they looked when you first got them?

As for the colors? Folks.... common, do I have the machine that made these decals in 1985 when they mixed special dyes and laid them onto vinyl with a process 20 years ago???? no, I dont think I do, who does? Can someone tell me who is doing better work than I am?

If someone can point it out to me, I will gladly back down and not sell them anymore...

Folks, I dont blindly pick out a color from my color swatch sheet just so its "close", I do the best that I can with coloring....With a machine that is top of the line right now, nothing on the face of this rock is better....thats the bottom line...

As for the pricing, obviously those who have a dispute with my prices have never run a business....or purchased a $20,000 machine with a will to help vintage enthusiasts out.

Did you read the auction where it states " three passes of ink need to be used to make this kit" What does that mean?????

It means Im literally printing THREE decal kits for each person on the black kit for $80.00, just so I dont have to layer them....

See, this is my extra effort for the three wheeler world to make decals seem more like OEM...

lets check pricing on some decal kits that my competitors have

Lets take www.reproductiondecals.com for example

1978 RD400 kit $110.00

Same exact kit

My price : $ 49.99

1976 rd400 kit $110.00

Same exact Kit

My price: $44.99

I can go on and on...... Just think what they would charge you for taking one week to figure out the temperature setting, ink spacing, head speed, color correction curves, etc to produce these special kits that have to be printed on metallic vinyl for the 80.00 black kit....

Those who have a problem with the kit prices.... what should it be? And why? Can you please break down the cost of ink, electricity, media, hourly rate, rent, machine payments down for me... Ahh, but you already know what that all costs dont you? Because you have taken upon the liberty of criticizing the cost.....

As for the windex on the decals bleeding I dont have an answer for, Ive sold 38 kits worldwide so far since I made these, and your the first to approach me with a problem.

Am I saying that you are doing something wrong??? Absolutely not... Is there a defect? Most-likely

Are the tri-z kits laminated... no because the originals are not laminated.... Can I laminate them? Sure....

Are the tiger decal kits laminated? Yes. Why? Because the originals are laminated...

Darius if you have a problem with my work dude, email or call me, I will send you another (free) kit laminated if you are having problems....

Whoever you were that has an issue with my prices, call me and we can discuss it over the phone.... I will gladly break all the prices down so you can see the "net profit" that Im making

You can save us both time from complaining about the cost of the long distance call.

Just like the tri-z decal kits, I have taken the liberty of trying to save you money any way I can and formed our toll free number: 1-866-701-3396

Im here from 10-6 eastern time, and also from 8-2 am producing decal kits on my own time off the clock to help you three wheeler enthusiasts out....

Am I hurting business by typing this to some here on the three wheeler discussion board? I surely hope not. Trust me, all of your interest makes me want to wake up in the morning and get cracking on new kits, new ideas on how to make things better. But when I sign on here and see grown men saying negative things about my work and prices, it makes me wonder if the long nights trying to help folks out were worth it....

Please try to see my points and frustrations, I am here to help you all, but I do not have ESP, you need to communicate with me if you have pricing/quality issues...

Thats what makes me different...

I will be calling You tomorrow to get decals for my Tecate. What do you need to put together an 86-87 200x kit?

Don't worry about the haters, just concentrate on putting out the best product. Those that pay the price do so because it is a value to them. If your machine puts out what I hope it does, it will make you some damn good bread !!!

Jared summed up the process nicely on page two ---so scroll back and read if you are a last page reader. I am not getting in the middle of any disputes between seller/buyer thats for you guys to iron out. ALL are good people so I'm sure you'll work it out. Jared is responding just as I expected a good and honest business man would--- to admit a possible flaw improve and make it right (I know its just not from a public post on the board either he has done some stuff over for me when he was working on the tecate shrouds). I dont sleep well so I check ebay frequently when all are sleeping :naughty: --Jared has responded to my emails at 3 or 4 in the morning on more than one occasion in his shop while working on decals. So its not BS. He is dedicated on making the most comprehensive kits available. As I've said debates and constructive criticism are healthy. I have a feeling Jared will be working with old, current ,and future members of this board for a long time :beer :beer

I concur, wholeheartedly.

Dont worry about what some of these dudes think. Over my years of running this site and forum I've found that NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO there are people who will never be happy with it. Do the best you can forget about the rest. I think your doing a really good job, and when I get some new fenders for my Z I'm going to purchase a kit #1 because I need one of high quality. and #2, your supporting the three-wheeling community by doing this, and I'm going to support you by buying a kit.

Jared...

I appreciate the offer. I was disappointed when one of my decals did not hold up well at all. It was not a price or cost issue. The fact that I recieved them due to my help was not the point.

I did feel pretty upset since I spent alot of time telling everyone about the kit and put my name and reputation on the quality of the decals. It may have been a defect or a just a lamination issue.

I apologize for my rash behavior as I should have contacted you first. I don't need any free decals...I'll buy what I need next time and I probably will want it laminated.

Thanks for everything and we all do appreciate the extra work you are doing to make this available. I think the kits are worth it as long as the decals hold up.
