I have a chance to buy an 84 250R, but the guy who had it now keeps blowing the cyclinder base gasket out. If you replace the gasket it wil run for a few hours before it blows. Would this be a case of the cyclinder warpage or a misalignment of the cases? Thankx for the help.

well it could be your cylinder is warped or you just did not torque them right try torqueing them down a little higher than normal and wright the numder down so you can retorque them once you've warmed it up a couple of times

get a straigh egde. someone might have pryed on it. look closely where it is leaking. screwdrivers are good for messing them up.

I had the same problem on my 84 250R. It blew out the base gasket on me. I don't know if it's because it's air cooled and the cylinder warped. I sold the bike and got an 86R. I would check to see if someone pryed on the cylinder, but either way, if someone did pry on it or the cylinder is warped, I would look elsewhere unless you can get another cylinder. OR if you have a friend in a machine shop that can deck the bottom of the cylinder. That gets complicated though.
