I need to find a good spyware program because i keep getting warnings about it. I have Spyware blaster, but it doesn't let you scan for bad files. I also have adaware but that doesn't do anything for spyware. Any help would be appreciated.

I use AVG and have been for the last year and have 0 problems with spyware. It scans every day on its own. All you need to do is make sure it stays up to date but it even tells you when it needs to be done.

I use Adaware, and Spybot S&D.

I used to use both of those and would still have a couple adware get past it, plus I had a firewall and two other programs. With this new computer I decided to try AVG and it has worked exellent by itself.

Same here for the last year + with no problems since. :beer
There are some "deep scan" options with Adaware that you might want to turn on, I did and it found a bunch more @ that time. There are updates to the tools put out every so often so keep up on those too.

Oh & use a "mozilla" browser instead of IE, thats the #1 way to keep the spyware down!!! :naughty:

Just checked it out, thats VIRUS protection. We're trying to block "advertising / datamining / bad cookie" intrusions. They can fly under the VIRUS protection all the time.

I use AVG 7 for virus protection, Spy Sweeper (full version) for spyware and Zone Alarm PRO for a firewall. Billy, I used to use Spybot S&D for spyware - but - I would recomend ditching it. When I installed Spy Sweeper, it found almost 30 Spyware intrusions and (mostly) cookies Spybot completely missed

I manage an IT outsourcing company. What we have been using as it is the best one out there is antispyware beta by Micro$soft. Believe it or not, it's free. It does the updates, keeps the system clean, downloads updates on the fly. The scan is 80 percent quicker than spybot or adaware. When they come off of Beta, it will be free as they have stated. It cleans off items that neither Adaware or Spybot will not. Not one problem with it from any of our clients. It's the way to go and you will love the results. Oh, no, I don't work for M$, just a great product that has saved me a lot of time.

Yah, I'll bet MS needs that utility just for covering their butts from their own "wide open" browser. I'll never use IE on my home PC!

I've been using Firefox since 1.0 now and I'm pretty happy with it. You will still pick up spyware, but not as much.

Yeah, Firefox is pretty good right now but as the popularity builds and the hackers put more time into finding the flaws, you will start experiencing the same issues. As bad as M$ can get, they have done quite a bit for the industry though, they do bundle a lot of options in the Windows OS that people had to pay for before as well as making it easier to accomplish things.
