84 250r silencer ?

gonna need one and i am wondering what the difference is for one for and 81-84 and an 85-86 or a trecate or a trx 250r or some other 2-stroke trike or quad or even a dirtbike for that matter. looks like dg is the only one who makes a specific one for the 84 but i want to loook on ebay and not be limited to one model. are the mounting plates the only difference or is the inlet from the muffler a different diameter too? i can change that if it is. what brands make a steel silencer ? i am thinking that will be easier to re-weld a new hanger onto than an aluminum one.

anyone ever use one of these dg universal ones? or know anything about it?

Most are made for right side exhaust so the lies the problem. The left side exhaust of the air cooled R is only made in replacement by DG. I have a modified Kawasaki dirtbike silencer on my 84 R. Got to make some adjustments to it this summer to make the connection look better.
