Well im having a problem with my Z. It was funning fine entill the next day and now it won't rev out. It is making that rich spuddring sound. Here are the things i have checked. Cleaned carb and went up and down on jets, cleaned air filter, checked the reeds, did a compression check and a couple other things but i can't remember right now. What else would cause it to do this? It will rev out fine when im in neutral but not when im riding. I need some help, i realy don't wany to take it to the shop so im open for opinions.

That sounds like similar problem I had a while back. The engine was getting enough feul at an idle but noe when I would throttle down. It turned out my feul pump was not pumping strong enough. So I rebiult it. That before I found out the vacume line that powerd it had to be replaced. long story short, check your feul pump.

You never know, I might actually know somehting.

I rebuilt it last year, one of the liners were ripped. Would it die on me that quick? I have clear hoses and i can see the gas flow pretty good. :wondering

Did you try a fresh plug?

I have gone through more than a box of plugs from doing tests on this thing. :(

I still think it is feul related. I went through it what you described. If not that, have you checked your compression. I have also had a intake come aprt on my pro Hauler and it did the same thing. Once I replaced that it ran great.

Try a gravity feed bottle and see if it still does it at high speed. I have seen tons of weird things happen with my fuel pump.

Its probably one of the most common ailments so give it a shot.

The compression was great when i checked it and it held pressure. I spayed starting fluid around the engine to see if their where any air leaks and found nothing. The head gasket seems to be fine too. 03 ORANGE SHEE seems to think it might be a electrical problem.

Did you try the gravity feed?

I know its frustrating....remember my Z was having trouble last week or so. Once I ran it hard....every cleared out and it got back to normal.

You can never rule out that fuel pump.

I will check the pump tomorrow to see if their is any dirt in it. I rebuilt it last year. I bought a new needle and seat but that did nothing.

I have a harness with the CDI and coil I could send you to help troubleshoot the electrical.

dont open up the fuel pump. Just get a soda bottle, make a hole in the cap, attach a fuel line hose.

Wrap the part where the hose goes through the cap with electrical tape about 20 times. This will seal it.

Use this as your fuel source whenever you have a funny engine issue. You can't believe how much trouble comes from that fuel pump. This is the only way you will know for sure.

My Z was doing the exact same thing and the fuel pump was working!! I thought well it pumps fuel? The fuel was not enough....just as you describe.

If I would go 3/4 to full throttle for a length of time it would bog and act like its running out of gas. If I took the hose off while running gas would pour out...but it was not enough to feed the carb at high throttle.

It is not bogging like it is running out of gas. It is making that crackling rich sound.

I checked the pump and everthing was clean and in 1 peice. I am going to try some diffrent gas for the hell of it. If that don't work then ill have to wait entill i get the electrical parts from BLAZERONE22. He is a great guy sending me these parts to try without me sending any money first. Thanks Blazer!!

Could it be a crank seal? How do i tell if their good?

Man,

I am going through the same deal with my seals. All I know is that if your crank seal go out you will either have a lean condition (if the stator side goes bad) or a rich condition with alot of stinky smoke if the tranny side seal goes out.

I don't know how to figure out if they are good or not. I know if its on the stator side you can spray WD 40 around the seal and see if revs go up.

On the tranny side its tough to say. That does not sound like your problem though because if it was leaking it would be leaking when you rev and idle too.

Maybe someone else has a different idea.

hey...if you want...you can sell that trike to me so you don't have to worry about this anymore...

For the right price anything is forsale. :naughty: I tried new gas today and it is still running like crap. Ill wait entill i get the eletrical parts from blazer. I hope it is the coil or something and not anything internal.

maybe the powerband is getting ready to snap, they run like you said right before they break and leave you broke down on the side of the trail, miles from the truck! :p

Granger....don't fret man. Send a PM to Tim and see what he says.

This is a tough one but I know Tim will figure it out.

I don't want to buy your trike...remember you told me the same thing when I was pissed off about mine....

...thats why I said it.

Good luck and hang in there!!
