im getting my tri z powdercoated very soon. i have been throwing the idea around in my head that i want to do it custom colors. maybe a grey or silver frame. i currently have the black/red 85 edition. I cant make up my mind as to which way i want to go.
I need help from you guys. Can you post pics of your z's custom or stock either way. i dont want to go radical on the colors, but something tasteful yet still different. Any Ideas HELP PLEASE!!!

Thanks
Tyler

Hmmmm....

What about getting white rear fenders (which are still available) and then painting the frame two colors. Black by the neck and shouds and then fade into white right around where the seat is.

This would make the Z two tone. Black front fender, headlight, etc. and white rear fenders. Add a gray seat and gray fork boots and its looks sweet.

I did a thread on this:

(it would look alot like the photoshopped Z but with a black front fender).

All the other stuff has been done man.

Let's see: red and black, black and yellow, etc, etc.

i was toying with the idea of a white and blue set up like you see on the trx's and some atc 250r's...

i was seriously thinking about the blue/white scheme. if the white front fendrs and side shrouds were easy to come by i think i would do it.

Darius, i know all the others have been done, thats why im so caught in between. the black red just has that apeal to it i cant get over, but at the same time i wish i had something different. the other problem i had with the two tone is how do you fade powdercoats? is it possible?

I reallylike the idea of a blue/white Z, like the new wheelers. if somebody is selling white shrouds and fender for descent i may look into it. i could also do it in anticipation of eventually getting those parts... hm i dunno

they dont make white shrouds, you would have to paint them

I've always wanted to do yellow plastics with like a plum crazy purple or neon purple frame and accessories. If you like black plastics, maybe a goldflake or sparkly gold type frame, it all depends on your color tastes though.

Yeah they don't make white shrouds. You could get them painted or go with the fusion paint.

You are right....if you powder coat there is no way to two tone it. One idea is pull up all the differnet colored banshee's over the years. The Banshee has a similar frame and fender design so it can help you visualize. I think with that model they have done every conceivable color!!

Here is a two tone but with one color frame....I love this:

Nice white, gray and black...very doable on the Z:

Perhaps you were thinking of this (white with blue in the center)

A little different....you can always put a graphics kit from a quad and cut it to fit the Z. All white red frame and red accents:

another white black variation (gosh those banshee are ugly!!)

good idea about looking for banshees, they have done almost every color imaginable. That grey banshee just blew my mind.... that thing looks sick with the gunmetal grey fenders!!! how good is that krylon fusion paint? i know regular spraypaint sucks. and ive seen alot of posts on here about how it works good... im still skeptical. thanks all.

Mike- i like the aluminum farme, that looks real nice

hey thanks Darius i always liked your 86 Z as well. i want to tear the Z down again and fix all the little problems not much. but the bike sat for a year and got rust and crude starting to show.plus i added all kinds of new parts and it need to be gone threw again. i did like a few of the banshee colors myself. if i ever do a Z again i would look at the banshee and go from there

so does anyone know the real deal on the krylon fusion? does it hold up well? does it come off easily? i read a whole bunch of posts on it but none seemed to have the answer of does it hold up, just that people have used it. any help would be great

Krylon works great, I dont have my pic but I painted my old 200 with it. Works good, I cleaned and sanded before I sprayed it on.

Mike- That is now in my picture file, beautiful! Love the powdered frame, it all matches, like Darius said. Factory could have learned from you.

i suck at photoshop, but i gave it a whirl, heres what i wished i could get my wheeler to look like. i am really shying away from that krylon paint. plus i dont want to ruin the half descent fenders i got now.

heres what it looked like before i tore it down, and heres one that i think would look pretty bad ace. what do you guys think? Should i just stick with the stock colors?
