Well the tecate is almost done. THIS BIKE ACTUALLY LOOKS BETTER IN REAL LIFE THAN THE PICS
Just have to put the calipers on
Wait for the new foot peg bolts
Get NOS grips
Powder coated 2 Xs because I didnt like the 1 st color.
Stock handle bars, headlight frame, rear fender brace-- powdered
Exhaust powered high heat satin black
Jareds Decal kit
ALL NEW OEM plastics including right shroud and headlight cover
Hand polished stock swinger, forks, shock resevoir, brackets, triples.
Replaced as many bolts as I could.
Those stupid chain rollers set me back $47 a piece.
Tank Professionally color matched to OEM plastcs and painted.
MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE ----to much to list!!!!!
As you can see from the before pictures this was some comprehensive work. Not one item was bolted back on without being addressed in one way or another.
Ive done all I could with whats available right now but will replace the DG muffler with OEM when I find one worth powder coating.
Would also like the stock rear chain and disc guard.
I will post more pictures outside the shop when 100% complete!!!!!

I bought the shroud off ebay $400 and some bucks. Its seems absoulutely insane but with all of the pieces new there is no comparison of how nice it looks
My old right shroud is nice but the tecate plastic darkens with age . It just didnt look right. I am glad I made the purchase Do not regret it at all
Chris 200X I will not be riding this ---thats the sad part --its for show and my collection

I don't blame you...I would be scared of racking it up. Looks like you got lots of money tied up in that and 1 good wreck could ruin it. Sad though, looks like she needs to strech her legs out a bit.

Thanks again for the compliments from all. It feels great to bring one of these machines back to life with your own two hands (other machines in it previous condition have different fates). This bike can now enjoy its golden years bringing enjoyment to many. i'm thinking of doing some shows when they are all done. Wait untill you see the FULL TIGER restore :naughty: This site and the enthusiasm on it has been an inspitration to continue with this great hobby.

AWESOME JOB.
Though many will disagree, I'm sure, but I think you should ride it from time to time. When one of my toys sits and collects dust, I have to get out and play with it. It's just a habbit. If I can't I'll usually give it away to someone. I did that with my go kart. It just sat. It ran and everything, and I was getting mad at myself, because I could here it screaming at me when I walked past it every once and while. So I gave it to a friend, who rides it alot. I literally gave it to him, no money exchange, just friendly vows.
Just my opinion, I'd rather take it out and take a risk every once and awhile rather than abuse it that way. It's like watching a person on life support, but knowing they'll never live again.
Gah I hate that feeling. I told my parents, that If I ever become a vegetable, I want them to pull the plug on me, because If I can't enjoy life, I don't want to live.

That is the cleanest late model tecate I've ever seen, especially being a restoration. Kudos for sure on that thing, you've done an awesome job.

Dammit!

I'd keep it emptied of fluids and on a lighted pedestal. That's a trophy trike if ever there was one. Get a beater to get your kicks on.

Yours if far from a beater its awesome!!! Seeing the pics of yours got me even more excited to finish mine.
To answer your question of the next build the pics speak a thousand words
It would already be a roller if the rear axle bearings would show up. The tank on the mock up is an extra one. The original shroud and tank with the aluminum flange and cap are at paint right now.
I'll save the true before pics on this one (complete but beat) until I post complete or almost complete pics.
I'm slowly wet sanding these PVC fenders down to the original white so I dont have to paint them and so far its working great. But i'll save the details on this bike for another thread to come!!!!

That tiger is gonna be awesome. Takes me back to the 80's with those tri tracs. I just got some from a guy here on the board for some extras for the tecate. They look like they have been race cut or something but will look good on som 10" ITP's. Whats that R like in the background? Is it a rider or another resto?

Wow.
What I wouldn't do to see those trikes up close.
Orange County, you do fabulous work.
Now I know why I love the later T3's.
That Tiger is simply unreal.
Post some pics of that 250R in the background when you get a chance.

Looking good Orangecnty. I feel like it's 1986 all over again, except this time I'm acne free! :w00t: I hope you have tremendous willpower to not ride that thing, because it's gonna be gnawing at you to take it out & open it up!

Thanks for the many many compliments. I cant believe the response the mean green machine has gotten. Sometimes I catch my self just staring at this thing. As I said at the beginning of this thread it even looks better in real life. I know sometimes cameras hide flaws --well in this case it actually mutes the shine of the powdercoat and true shine of everything in the pics I posted. I know 250R steve is thinking of selling his. I wouldnt even take a $5000 offer (call me crazy) for this bike.
As long as I stay healthy and my income isnt compromised I want to keep this for a long long time.
