I'm re-doing an '85 250sx and i need tires. The rear rims are pretty dinged up so i might get new ones or some used ones. what size rim/tire should i run on the back? what about the front? The front tire looks huge ( i think it's stock size) and it is dry-rotted i believe, so i am going to at least get a new tire if not a new rim also. Would you guys recommend a narrower taller tire? same size tire? Over all what are some good reasonably priced tires and tire sizes for the 250sx? I've never rode one but from what everyone has been saying, they are great mud-machines. I have 2 22-11-8 carlisle knobbys that need tubes (bad bead) and i was thinking about popping them on back. would thoase get good traction in mud?

I like the Kenda " Front-Max ".. for the front. obviously.

I personally wanted as wide as i could without rubbing on the front forks.. be careful with the SX and the front tires.. don't get anything that balloons too much. I had a Mud-Devil and it was no good.

Got bear claws on the rear.. but they are heavy.. saw a set of Razorz's yesterday i liked tho.. i wonder how they do in mud.

Not 100% sure, but if I remember right, 250 es rims won't fit on an sx (9" vs 8" & different bolt pattern) Just my 0.02$. The best 8" tires I found for mud are the 22x12.5x8 TSL super swampers, expensive, but really shovel the mud & awesome in the snow. (almost like paddles). In 9", you can't beat the TSL 25x13.5x9 Vampires. You're trike won't turn, but nothing will stop you.

Well i'm not 100% sure either but according to my dennis kirk catalog the 85 sx and 85 es both have a 4x110 bolt pattern. As for the rims being 1" different, i dont think that should matter. Hope not anyway.

It does'nt matter as long as you are talking about swapping the rim/tire combos as sets. 8" tires don't fit on 9" rims & vise versa. I do remember trying sx rims on another trike, just can't remember if it was a 185s or an es, & the bolt pattern was different.

Kenda Front Max Cant be beat for a Front tire on a Trike. I got Fast Trekkers on the Rear 20"-10"-10" and I like em for the Trails and getting sideways, they are allso good in the Mud. Look

Kevin.... Got a set of Carlise Trail Pro's on the stock 250SX rims.... someone had them on a 350X when I bought my daily rider. Not a great tire for a 350X, but would be good for a 250SX. They take up space in my garage. Maybe the next time I'm out to MI or at Trikefest I can bring them out. They'd be quite $$ to ship I bet!
